About 3 months after I was fully released I ended up tearing one of my meniscus again, surgery number 3. Half a year later, the same thing reoccurred. During my recovery time for all my surgeries, I found a different way of thinking. When an athlete gets seriously injured, they don’t normally get a warning before telling them ‘hey this is your last time doing what you love, so make it count’. That doesn’t happen. A real athlete eats, breathes, and sleeps their sport. When an enjury enters their life, they have to completely change their way of thinking, living, and handling situations. There are also situations where the athlete is found alone. None of their teammates interact with that as much because they are unable to be active. My love for psychology and the way athletes think has grown ever since my first surgery. About half way through my recovery process, I realized I wanted to become and sports psychologist. Not the kind that helps with your way of goal setting and determination. I want to help teenage athletes with injury, stress, mental illnesses. I am honestly convinced athlete’s brains are formed a significantly different way than others. My goal is to find if this is really true. Then I want to start
