Procedure: 1.
2. Add 80mg of naphthalene to Craig tube. Add few drops of methanol hot solvent.
3. Place tube in hot water bath.
4. Add methanol dropwise until all solid dissolves.
5. Remove tube from heat, cap with plunger, and cool to room temp
6. Put in ice bath for 5 min and then centrifuge to separate solvent and crysta

Preheat a water bath to 70 C. Weigh the tablet before starting. Remove plastic
2. Crush tablet to power and place powder in a centrifuge tube with 2 mL of methanol. Cap and shake. Allow undisolved to settle and then transfer the floating liquid to a centrifuge using pipet. Repeat process with additional 2ml of methanol and transfer clear liquid to centrifuge. 3. Centrifuge until it’s clear (2-3 min) 4. Prepare a 2 cm alumina column and add 2 ml of methanol *don’t let it run dry. 5. When methanol at surface, transfer solution to column using pipet and collect the eluting fraction in beaker. After solution has drained to surface of alumina, add more mL of methanol to wash column and collect any desorbed material. 6.Remove solvent now by evaporation. Heat solvent and voil it off. 7. when crystals are dry, determine weight and melting point. 8. Melting point will tell you what active ingerdediant you are dealing with, confirm it through recording IR spectrum and then compare to online. 9. Run a TLC plate of isolated against solution of known compount. Eluent used is ethyl acetate containing .5% acetic acid. Spot reference containing acetaminophen and
