My Reflection On Myself As A Writer

Reflection At the start of the semester, I considered myself a good writer. I had done well in composition my sophomore year and believed that I didn’t have much more I needed to learn. However, coming into Advanced Composition, I realized quite quickly that my writing was not all I had thought it was. Compared to what Mrs. Witt was expecting, my writing was very juvenile. After the first paper, I was able to see what exactly I needed to work on, such as tying topics back to my thesis and working on writing a clear thesis. As the semester progressed, I started to improve on these things and in turn improve on my writing in general. Now, at the end of the semester I can say that I am a better writer than I was at the beginning. I am in no way an expert at writing but I at least have a better understanding on how to make a paper sound more educated and well written.
When I do this, I am able to engage myself in the topic more because I’m learning something new. Sometimes it can be difficult to write a paper when you already know a lot about the topic. Yes, you don’t have to research as much but it can be boring and difficult to research when you already know lots of information about it. However, the most challenging topics for me are when I have no interest in the topic at all. The paper will reflect my lack of appeal and in turn not sound as good. I will usually procrastinate the paper and therefore have to rush to get it done making it sloppy and not written
