my laptop
What artifact describes you? Could be your pen, book, iPod etc. as long as you feel that it shows who you are. My laptop describes me in many ways such as the music I download into it. I like rap/hip-hop and R&B, so my laptop has many songs of those categories. As for my pictures, the pictures saved onto it are of either my friends, family or just things I like. They describe who I am and where I come from and the places I have been to. Also I love playing games on my laptop and just exploring the internet. The games describe me as a fun person and exploring the internet would describe me a curious person (and I am).

Tupac, Eminem, Lil Wayne are just a few of the music artists I listen to. I am into Rap, hip-hop, and R&b music. My laptop is filled with music that fall into that category and can tell you the type of person I am just off my music.

I have been to many places throughout my life. I’ve gone, to plenty of states. My laptop holds a bunch of pictures of all my adventures and can tell you very much of all the places I have been to and the things I like to do. Also I could pretty much tell you who my friends and family are. Most of my pictures are with my friends or family because I enjoy spending most of my time with them. Then there comes the pictures of all my dreams cars and other things I wished I could own.

I am a very adventurous and fun type of person and my laptop shows that I am based on the fact that it has plenty of games downloaded onto it. Surfing the internet and doing research on things describes me as Curious, and I am because I am always surfing the internet to learn more. Also my laptop has 6 GB memory space, and I have plenty of space to learn or save things onto my mind. It has a 17.5 inch screen which is pretty big and I am a pretty big guy. Battery life is one thing that describes me a lot. After using a laptop for a bit, it dies out and you need to charge it, as for me I go throughout my day and by the

The artifact that I believe describes the culture I live in today is the iPad. I think this describes how we live more today than anything else. We as a society seem to always be attached to some sort of electronic device and the newest and most popular of those is the iPad. Today you can do almost everything from the comforts of your home while using the iPad and internet access. You can download music, movies, shop, work, and play all from one device.…

Violent lyrics, a bad-boy image, and a long criminal record are what attracted and connected millions of young adults to the now legendary rapper Tupac Shakur. Tupac was a man of contradictions; for example, his music degraded and also praised strong women. Tupac Shakur rapped about problems that inner-city black Americans could relate to, along with his legal and personal drama; you could not get away from Tupac in the 1990’s. From the womb to the day Tupac Shakur died he went through the struggles many self-proclaimed “gangsters” these days do as well; but using these problems he took the rap and hip-hop game to another level.…

My second artifact is a picture book that I made with all the pictures my grandpa and I took together for any type of holiday or a photo to share the fun memories we had together. I chose to make a picture book because I was very thankful to have my grandpa apart of most of my life. I couldn’t have done it without him through most of the hard times. It ties in with my larger theme because I appreciated everything my grandpa did for me before his passing.…

For as long as mankind has walked on this earth, music has been an important part of our culture and lifestyles. Each walk of life beats to a different drum. Different cultures use music for many aspects of their lives; for religious purposes, for celebrations, for comfort, for sorrow, for relaxation, for sports, for dances, for energy, for learning, for sleeping, and for sexual experiences. Everyone uses music for something. Music connects with people and reaches them in ways that words simply cannot. Music is a representation of what feelings sound like. It expresses emotion and brings that characteristic out from within us; it tells us a story. Every generation has its’ own sound and different music styles have emerged and become extremely popular. In the 1950’s Rock n Roll came to the scene and shocked everyone. The new sexual language and sex appealing dance moves had people thinking it was the end of all innocence. Then in the 1980’s Hip Hop Rap became increasingly popular. Many people viewed this new music as stupid and disgusting. It was seen as a ghetto, spoken word, vulgar, type of music. An example of this stereotype is the views of Hip Hop/ Rap through James McBride’s perspective. In James McBride’s essay “Hip Hop Planet” he shares with us his views on hip hop/ rap music and how hard it was for him to appreciate it. Overtime people began to appreciate this new genre of music more. They started realizing that this is not just a bunch of ghetto people cursing and speaking; it has meaning. Hip Hop/ Rap is truly an artistic genre and expression of real talent. This genre of music depicts peoples’ lives, tells us a story, and expresses their emotions. Some songs can be inspirational and can move you in a way that other genre’s cannot. An example of an artist that can convey this in his music is Eminem.…

I listen to music every day of my life. From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. My current mood determines what type of music I listen to. For example, in the morning, I like to start my day off with something slow and calm. This usually jazz music with its soft and mellow tones. Then later in the day, I prefer to listen to rap music. It really helps me get excited. This helps me when I am in the gym, especially the sound of the loud bass and tones. I tend to calm down after a long day of activities. I sooth my mood with slow, mellow, and calm music. This really helps my body and mind relax after a long day of work. In conclusion, Jazz, Rap, and R&B are very powerful different types of music, each having its own different style and background.…

    Stereotypes Of Music Essay

What is the first thing listeners pay attention to when listening to a good song? The instrumental and how it shows the rhythm and base of the composition’s flow? The voice and how it shows the feeling and how it captivates people with the harmony? The lyrics and how it carries the melody while painting a picture? However, does the artist get the most attention as they display their simple characteristics, such being their impact, gender, race, or age? Listeners have been swayed to like artists that fit into their stereotype, but I believe stereotypes are unrealistic and are only holding people back from to the real background.…
