My Ideal Apartment
MY IDEAL APARTMENT I think home is where one can find peace, joy, and most importantly where one can feel safe. I live in an apartment, which is located in Dhanmondi. We live in 10th floor of the building. It consists three bedrooms, three bathrooms, one dining room, one living room, and a kitchen. So it consists eight different rooms, which is an ideal apartment for a family. Our living room is a pretty big in size. My mother decorated and furnished our living room. There are many portraits on the wall. The floor of the living room is wooden. During the day my living room is filled with lights, so we don’t need to turn on any lights. It has a really large window, so that’s the reason of the lights. The next room is our dining room. In this room we eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pretty awkward about this room is sometimes our family meetings are held in this room. This room has only one tiny window. There are many family photos in our dining room. These family photos remind us our sweet memories. Our kitchen is pretty decent in size. It has one window and a balcony. The stove and the refrigerator are beside sink. There is a chimney up on the stove. Chimney helps to reduce the emitted smoke during cooking. On the ceiling there is fan which helps to keep kitchen cold during hot seasons. We have three bedrooms. All the bedrooms are moderate in size. Each room has a separate balcony. Our master bed is the biggest of all three bedrooms. My room is the smallest one but it is filled with light. I love lighting very much so that’s my favorite thing about my room. My mother has decorated all the rooms. Each room has separate bathrooms. All the bathrooms are well in size and they are well decorated also. Sometimes we suffer from various problems like gas problems, water problems, and electricity problem. During load shedding sometimes generator doesn’t give us back up. These are some common problems in our apartment. Though few problems arise

Upon entering the living room, the golden honey colored hardwood floor creaks underfoot and the fireplace stands out from the roughly textured, earthy green walls that rise up to the textured white ceiling. The long narrow boards that make up the beautifully maintained hardwood floor run lengthwise making this room look even bigger than it actually is. The textured ceiling was done in multi-directional, sweeping, fan patterns that resemble seashells. Hanging in the center of the room is a fifty-two inch brass-trimmed ceiling fan with five dark wood colored blades. Below the fan blades are three frosted glass, bell shaped covers which shade the light bulbs.…

When first entering the dining room, the space is large with a lot of room available for movement without the feeling of obstruction. It is a dining hall that allows the tenants of the Lansdowne House to host a number of public social events. This space feels like a more public space of hosted gatherings, bringing people together similar to the roman painting seen above the hearth and repeated in the plaster work on walls in the circular plaster work. However the bedroom, although is a semi-private space, where only men of great importance can enter the kings bedchambers, is rather cavernous and intimate. It is an alcove, honing in very important, intimate conversations. The dining room has a very structured and planned out feel to it, as it is more refined and less cluttered with overly frivolous design. As the Renaissance revisits the idea of math and science, moving away from a strictly religious perspective, Roman proportions were brought back and studied, applying that knowledge to rooms and architectural buildings. The plasterwork is more refined and in scale with the space as it is slightly raised, not overpowering the room yet still adding a touch of elegance. However the bedroom is overwhelming and massive with cherubs flanking the walls and ceiling as well as the oversized chair and headboard invade the negative space, leaving…

There is a narrow window a the left. Through its leaded panes the morning sunlight streams> A candle still burns near the bed, which is at the right. A chest, a chair, and a small table are the other furnishings. At the back a cdoor opens on the landing of the stairway to the ground floor. The room gives off an air of clean sparseness. The roof rafters are exposed, and the wood colors are raw and unmellowed.…

There’re six rooms on each side of the hall. They have private rooms for the residents that don’t like to share rooms with someone else. The private rooms are bigger than the other rooms. They have a bigger bathroom and it’s more comfortable. The small rooms have two twin beds and two small closets. Besides the rooms, they have two dining rooms, one for the people that need assistance and the other one for the rest of the residents. They use the launch to do activities with the residents. This room is a regular size and it has a flat screen TV, tables for the residents to play cards or puzzles in and two tan sofas for residents and visitors to sit on. Also, there’s a door that leads to the patio, where the activities director takes residents to sit outside on the benches. The kitchen is decorated with polished wooden cabinets and a squeaky clean stove that shows your reflection when staring down upon it. There is also a fridge in the back of the kitchen and the trash bin resides next to the fridge. Touring the rest of the apartment there is my bedroom, my sister’s room and the master bedroom. My room suits all my needs; whether it be sleeping, eating, studying, or relaxing. My getaway place is my room. There are two twin beds in my room, and a closet full of shoes and clothes. A 50 inch television sits on top of the only black sleek dresser in the room. My room is usually where I invite all my friends over and throw parties. In my sister’s room there is a formal setup, just a simple king sized bed and a beige headstand where she keeps her television. In the hallway there is a treadmill where users can burn off calories and improve cardio. There are two bathrooms in the apartment, inside them are white walls and brown tiles in the tub. Also a mirror is above the sink to make sure people arrange themselves properly before exiting. The master bedroom hosts a bathroom, closet, and a desktop on top of a glass computer…

    Description of My Room

Well, there is not much to say about my small (7 m2) room. When you go in, first what is visible is a big window and the nice scenery outside with many trees and a kindergarten full of children during spring and summer. You could feel the calming atmosphere of this small space because of the light blue colour, that reminds of light blue sky , which is quite relaxing. On the ceiling there are phosphorescent stars and the moon , so at night it is even more psychodelic. There is a nice, white big table on the left which is coverd with dark blue (I would say even garnet) top, on which I put my laptop and xerox copies from the College. Under the table there is a small corner cupboard where I keep some old papers, which probably I will never read again… There is as well a stacking hi-fi which goes loud many times during a day. I also have garnet paper box when there are clean sheets of paper. There is also a desk lamp with pencils and pens put in (a special construction of the lamp allows that) Above the table there is a bookshelf mainly with books connected with yoga and healthy lifestyle as well as an English dictionary. In the left corner of the room there is a huge Pink Panther which is hanging from the walls in a funny posture. On the ledge (which is in front of the door) there is a small plant (I don’t know a name). On the right side of the room there is a a foldable bed plus shelves unit. It’s huge and white, but very handy in such a small room like this. On this piece, there are two ferns andone statue of Lao Tze – who was a famous Chinese philosopher. Above that bed there is a huge painting, hanging on the wall, in blue and white colours, with a woman from fantasy world – she looks like a beautiful elf. The floor is covered with nice woodblock and under the ledge lays a yoga mat and the blanket which I use for exercising my body, breath and mind. And this is all which I have in my small cosy room in Rubinkowo…
