There are over seven billion people on this Earth, so what is it that makes me so different? I wear Nike, I drive a car, I play video games, I have chores, and could be considered a pretty normal person. I love, I laugh, I get angry, and I have emotions just like every other human being. The one thing I heavily identify with is football. For as long as I can remember I’ve played ball, and made some great friends along the way. The picture in the top left is a great representation of this. Football has taught me lessons of leadership, perseverance, toughness, how to deal with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. (Bottom left: aftermath of beating Staley) Above all else, the best thing it has taught me was loyalty. Not only loyalty to a cause, but loyalty to my brothers, and ultimately my family. Football has created a foundation for my character, and without it I am certain I would not be the same person I am today.…

Sports have come a long way since basketball was played with milk crates and flat balls in the alleys of the poor and rich alike. One may ask, why should I be concerned with the senseless sweating and hours of practice of those who enjoy sports? The answer is one that will open your eyes to the fulfillment sports can bring whether recreational or competitive. Sport activities offer a variety of lifelong qualities and provide those who participate a sense of happiness like no other. Jennie Yabroff the author of “In Defense of Cheering”sheds light to her audience on why Cheering should be taken as seriously as any other sport. In contrast Felisa Rogers the author of “How I Learned to Love Football” tells a story of how she once despised the great American game of football to how she grew ecstatic about its very nature. Both women have admiration for their respective sports and want to encourage others to share their love of sports through their use of ethos and pathos, with pathos being more effective.…

Football has helped me prepare for my goal and has taught lessons that can benefit me in the future. This sport has taught me that in order to be victorious, teamwork is required. My junior year my team went 1-9, because we were playing like a bunch of individuals rather than a unit. That season made the team realize that in order to be a playoff team, we must all be on the same page, trust each other, be trustworthy, and never settle for anything less but success. With this mindset, my team has been able to come together as a unit, and we as of now, we have become a playoff team. Football…

Football is something that defines me in many ways. Football taught me many things but one of the biggest was becoming a young man. The sport itself didn't teach to be a man but the coach that felt like father figures in the four year in highschool that gave me life lectures. My coaches taught me simple things like how to shake hands like a man to learning to deal with situation that are hard to deal with alone. My coaches have helped me become the young man I am with manner, attention to details, and sense of urgency. Without football and the discipline I've been through, I would have been a MORE of a person who quits when it gets hard. Football is what taught to keep trying even when it's hard and to try my best because at some point you…

Many people may think that soccer is just a sport, but to me it means much more. I believe in the feeling I get when I dribble down the pitch, juke out a defender, and score the winning goal. It is such a rush to race down the pitch and send an amazing through pass to your teammate who scores the goal. Soccer has taught me many life lessons such as to always try your best, exercise is important, and to be respectful to everyone you play with or against.…

Soccer has guided me in many ways to become the person I am. Especially in high school, the sport has showed me how to be much more cooperative and open with others. Before high school, I isolated myself from others and had only a few close friends. Rather than being a sociable, I acted as though I was the only person in the world and had the outlook that as long as I do what is right individually, there is no need for me to work with others. This outlook changed when I joined the soccer team at Holy Spirit, my high school. With the way soccer is at the high school level, I had no choice but to cooperate and associate my selves with others. Once on the field, instead of introducing myself as "me" I had to introduce myself as a part of the team. You win as a team and you lose as a team. Sometimes I wanted to drive to games myself, and I was not allowed to because we are supposed to travel together and it would be wrong to the team for me to separate myself from the group.…

Sports have always played an important role in my life. Growing up my parents encouraged me and my brother to try a multitude of sports. From a very young age, my parents urged us to play what they categorized as a “life sports” along with team sports. In their eyes, a life sport is an activity you can play throughout your life. I continue to play golf, paddle tennis, tennis, and skiing today. During my elementary and middle school days I always wanted to be a part of a team, enjoying the comradery that came along with it. The sports I played included soccer, ice-hockey, lacrosse, and field-hockey. Eventually giving up soccer, I focused solely on stick sports.
