My Boy Jack
My boy jack is a very powerful movie that really moved me in a way that no other movie has in a long time. When I found out that this is about Rudyard Kipling’s son was based on a real event, my reaction to the film were even more sharp. When the movie was finished and the credits started rolling, I sat quietly, pondering the fear of war and all the sacrifices that come with it. It is indeed breath taking.

The cast of the film is very genuine. David Haig, whose face looked very familiar to me more than his name, really stood out. Not only does he look like the real Rudyard Kipling, but it is said that he spent over 20 years practicing to fit the real Kipling’s story to stage and screen. David plays Kipling role with great arrogance and patriotism. Even though what he was doing was not pleasant, putting his son in a dangerous situation, for most people it was credible.

Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe on the other hand is unforgettably good as the boy who enters the fray of WW1 despite being completely incompetent. Even though Jack had very poor eye site, this did not hold back Kipling’s actions to help his son join the army force. His performance as Jack is very real that as some point, I internally screamed NO! when he directs and leads his group to fight. Daniel Radcliffe brings both power and sadness at the same time in his role, especially when he speaks to his father for the last time and takes off.

Another very significant cast member is Carrie Mulligan. Carrie began her acting career in 2005 and even though she is an Amature when is comes to acting, she displayed a very

Professional part playing as Kipling’s independent daughter, Elsie - the only one of Kipling’s three daughters to live past the age of 18.

Kim Cattrall (Carrie) delivers and magnificent performance as Kipling’s wife and the mother of Jack and Elsie. She depicts Carrie as a very strong woman who fought the press and he public so as her husband (Kipling) would have all the

I think this is a very inspirational film. This story has taught a lot about believing in yourself no matter who puts you down. I like Seabiscuit a lot. Seabiscuit faced a lot of difficulties in his life. However, he managed to conquer them. He overcame injuries that were said to be career ending. He beat the racehorse, War Admiral, who almost never lost a race. If you don¡¦t fight for your own dream, it will always only be a dream. If you just sit there and do nothing, your dream will never come true. The odds were incredible. The dream was impossible. But somehow, it actually happened.…

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight year old son of the commandant at a concentration camp. This movie was again probably the top 5 of the best movies we have seen all year. It did a brilliant job of representing how gruesome it was for even German families, especially for the kids we are never really told what is going on but instead taught to hate and despise anybody that isn’t Aryan. Since this film is still recent I was expecting it to be good and it did not disappoint, with a stellar cast of known actors like David Thewlis, Vera Farmiga, and Asa Butterfield. It got my attention right off the start and kept it going, to a very thriller story.…

In the book The Jack Roller author Clifford Shaw is a criminologist who has researched many different youthful deviants to see exactly when the deviance begins and how it evolves. The book dives deep into the mind of a particular case of a boy named Stanley in Chicago during the 1920’s. From the beginning of the book Stanley is abused by his stepmother often being set aside so she could tend to here actual children. I believe this book is most accurately depicts the social learning theory. Leakes, just like the rest of the cast, has no problem saying how she feels, and she never shies away from confronting whoever she has an issue with. In James Joyce’s short story, Eveline, the main character illustrates that it can be a challenge to hold too tightly onto the past when faced with the futures uncertain path. The author makes it clear the Eveline, the girl, grows up dealing with death and suffering, and as a result she takes on the roll of her mother. She works extremely hard to support and care for her family in the way that her mother would have, but she frequently feels lonely and finds herself unhappy. The outcome of all of the change that is occurring in Eveline’s family life, results in relationships drifting apart, and her father growing unpleasant and mean with old age. Eveline feels that the only way to find happiness again is to embark in a new phase of her life with her lover, Frank. He has arranged for them to secretly travel away together, get married, and settle down. Although Eveline believes that she is ready to pursue a new life with Frank, when she is on the verge of leaving, empathetic feelings rush through her and the realization that she needs to move away from her “true home” quickly becomes short-lived.…
