Muscular System Case Study
Muscular System: As I examined the muscular system I did not see why it could have been affected by the disease. The muscles can get glucose from the blood with the help of insulin. This helps lower blood sugar levels. But because this disease does not produce a lot of insulin it can not get glucose from the blood. This means muscles can’t get the “fuel” they need. This system is not affected by the disease because the patient did not have high blood sugar levels and his muscles look pink and health.

Endocrine System: As I examined the Endocrine System I saw it was affected. The patient was taking Novolin N, which is an insulin that helps control high blood sugar. And Metformin and Glyburide, which are diabetic medications. Side effects of these are blood glucose goes too low. This happens because the amount of insulin needed by the body to maintain homeostasis is too much. This also affects the tissue function. The tissue looked a lit bit weak, this could have caused the patient's neurotic feet.

Circulatory System: As I examined the circulatory system I saw that it was affected. The circulatory system allows blood glucose levels to be regulated. If

Nerve damage from diabetes is called diabetic neuropathy. They can be categorized as sensory neuropathy, motor neuropathy, and autonomic neuropathy. The patient had sensory neuropathy. Sensory neuropathy is when the nerves that sense heat and touch are damaged. The patient had necrotic on his feet. Necrotic is when cells/tissues can’t be replace, or in other word dead. The patient probably did not have the ability to feel the necrotic on his feet because it affects the feet. The patient also presented poor vision. This was caused because of cataracts. This is when the lens of your eyes become cloudy, causing the vision to become blurry. This is most common with older diabetics. This patient had this because he was 56 years old and because of

The Neuromuscular junction uses synapses to connect the muscular system with the muscular system. A nerve impulse is sent from the brain down to the motor neuron by way of the axon. Acetylcholine is released after the vesicles break open. Sodium channels are opened from Acetylcholine that bonds to the Acetylcholine receptors. Depolarization happens when Acetylcholine causes an area of the muscle fiber to become a little more positive when it leaves the nerve and docks on receptors in the muscle membrane. Large amounts of Na+ ions enter the muscle fiber because channels open after depolarization, and an action potential then spreads throughout the muscle fiber. The thick and thin filaments of the muscle fiber can then contract…
