Multiple Governments and Intergovernmental Relationships

The current even and issue that I know most about and keep up with is the attempted Gun Ban. The last gun ban was in in place from 1994 to 2004, and had not been in effect since then. With the current rise in terrorist and crazy citizens with guns shooting up schools and public places through the United States has raised the question of new gun bans and laws in the nation. The government was attempting to put a ban on all current rifles with a detachable box magazine and all guns with magazines that hold more than ten rounds in them.

The federal Government is over the one that would have to change the overall laws and regulations but each individual state has the right to set their own gun laws as long as they still comply with the federal government. California for example has had many of these laws that are trying to be passed currently such as the ban of 30 round assault rifle magazines and require that the rifles have a bullet button which makes the rifle reloading a lengthier process. So in the long run the States and fed’s sometime work together and other times wont.

Currently the ban on assault rifles got out voted and is not a main issue, now what is still open and active is trying to take away any magazine for any weapon that holds greater than ten rounds. I am an avid and advanced gun shooter and owner, I believe that if that will make people happy taking away magazine capacity then let them. Taking that away will not stop shooting and or violence in any way through my eyes is useless. I do feel that the common weekend shooters do not need such huge magazine capacity and will help to possible limit damages done during a hostile shooting. Also the other main issue that I feel will help in the gun world and that should be enforced is a greater and more in depth background check than the current one that

Various thoughts on gun regulation have been recommended to the press, local government, and people in power at the federal level. Most of which are quickly rejected as they are expected to fail or are unable to make it through Congress due to inside politics. An idea that has not yet been pushed through Congress is allowing all responsible citizens to carry firearms with the potential consequence of a minimum five year prison sentence along with fines if the weapon is not used by the carrier in a situation of self-defense. With those laws in place, criminals may consider alternatives before violating their next victim with a firearm. This will also help to cut down on straw-purchases of firearms.…

    (2) Federal law already prohibits certain people from owning firearms: those with certain kinds of criminal records or mental illness; drug addicts; immigrants without legal status; veterans who left the military with a dishonorable discharge; and anyone with a permanent restraining order keeping them from a partner or a partner’s children. So with this already in action, do we really need more gun control? Now we are discussing needing a background check on every person and taking away a big portion of guns, but clearly, we won’t be needing…

The role guns play in our society has long been a controversial topic for the past few years in the united states. There are those who believe that guns do not belong in the hands of citizens and there are those who believe that guns are the foundation that protects our rights and liberties stated in the Constitution. There are too many leading factors as to why there should not be any stricter gun control laws. Some of these factors are that they go against our fundamental rights of self defense, give too much power to the government, and could potentially increase crime rates in the united states.…

One major modern-day political issue our country is suffering from are gun control laws. Gun controls law now are much different than what they were many years ago; because of school shootings like Columbine and Sandy Hook, there have now been security guards and metal detectors in schools to stop more school shootings from happening. But just because of that, it won't stop misuse of guns all together, so this is why a lot of people are arguing about getting gun laws under…

Coming from the 20th century most gun control laws, are based on state policies, as opposed to federal laws, which makes every gun control criteria different. While the process of obtaining a gun license involves mainly the state, federal law, as opposed to state law, requires all those who want to purchase a gun to a background check. The background checks are aimed solely at determining whether or not you are prohibited from purchasing guns under federal law. Some states require some to take a firearms safety course or even fingerprints. Besides having three different branches of government, America has state law and federal law to ensure a separation of power. A federal law applies to the entire nation The U.S. Constitution forms the basis for federal law; it establishes government power and responsibility, as well as preservation of the basic rights of every citizen. State laws are individual laws in which the state carries for itself. The state law then applies to residents and visitors of the state, and also to business entities, corporations, or any organizations based or operating in that state. When a state law is in direct conflict with federal law, the federal law prevails. A state law can afford more rights to its residents than federal law, but is not meant to reduce or restrict the rights of a U.S. citizen. Which makes…

Twice in the past two years, the gun control issue has reached the nation’s highest court. In July 2010 the Supreme Court ruled that the federal right to bear arms applies at the state and local level (U.S. News). Guns do not kill people. People kill people. The National Rifle Association called the ruling a “landmark” decision, but the law did not really explain how it applied…

Gun control should not be in force because it only affects the people who follow the laws. If weapons were banned, that is, putting gun control into effect, the people who follow laws won’t be able to protect themselves from people who don’t abide by the laws. The main purposes of fire arms is self- protection and hunting. So if the government tries to take our weapons away from us we can just throw the 2nd amendment at them and tell them that this is unconstitutional. We understand they are trying to cut down on crime, but it is actually making the crime rates go up. In Britain the government thought it would bring the crime/murder rate down but, it actually increased about 1 million more deaths each year. The government is trying to get is ammo they are trying to limit ammo manufactures to a certain amount of ammo a day. They are also making people go into havoc and making them go crazy over ammo, so people are buying…

studies on procon.org show that five women die from guns every day and when a gun is involved with a domestic violates argument the chance of a woman dying is 500%. That guns are then main weapon used in homicides. But with gun control it will help stop people from buying high capacity magazines. Mother Jones investigations found out that 50% of the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012 the gunman used a high capacity magazine. Criminals and gang members use high capacity magazines to compensate for their lack of accuracy to cause maximum casualty. What we need to do is only allow high capacity magazines to military and law enforcement because in total sense when are you going to need a high capacity magazine in real life. So people don’t have the ability to cause mass murder because they won’t be able to carry 20 or 90 round magazine in a hand gun or a 100 to 200 round assault rifle to help lower the rates of domestic violence and homicide…

Limiting the accessibility of guns is a step in the right direction, despite the fact that people are going to find a way to get a gun if they want one, making it harder to obtain them will in some way decrease the amount of violence that is caused by a person in possession of a gun. As a result of the recent increase in mass shootings, many Americans in a way have become desensitized, they tune in for details, watch what goes on for a couple of days, but many people do not really care anymore than they would about their favorite TV show (source D Manson). We have change this and make it clear that these tragedies are happening in our communities and they should taken seriously rather than like just another news…

These proposals for even stricter gun control than the ones implemented by the Brady Bill are all very much on the wish list for liberal politicians and advocacy groups that would like to bring about more gun control. These goals are admirable but there seem to be incredibly large roadblocks to actually having any of these measures implemented especially when there are much larger issues to deal with namely the quite sizable gun show…

In 1924, Presidential Candidate, Robert La Follete said, “Our choice is not merely to support or oppose gun control but to decide who can own which guns under what conditions.” After many years later, the debate over gun control has always been a hot issue not only for the U.S but also for the whole world. However, this problem has truly become more significant since the outrageous Sandy Hook shooting was happened in Connecticut last year. There have been many debates over this issue whether people can have their rights to own the guns or not. In my opinion, the US government should have tighter the gun control and improve the background check system for people buying firearms in order to avert more tragedies.…

Gun Control. This has been a divisive topic for centuries, ever since the creation of guns in the late 1700’s. Many people see guns as their right and often point to the 2nd Amendment in the U.S, which gives all people and groups such as the NRA, the right to carry guns no matter what happens. This is a right which has been laid out and given to all Americans, along with freedom of speech, religion, the press, etc. But on the other hand, in the wake of mass shootings which have now become a trend across the U.S, and rising crime rates following the biggest jump in murder rates from 2015 to 2016, many advocates are supporting increased gun control rates, saying that the times are changing, and that while people should still carry guns, people…

The United States has been a gun culture country since the day the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.
