1692, a time in which a small town goes into absolute chaos. The hysteria of witchcraft fills the streets of Salem, Massachusetts with rumors and accusations leading to the hanging of nineteen innocent people. Arthur Miller uses this tragedy to resemble the same stupidity of the accusations of the infiltration of communists in the United States throughout the 1950’s. To display the absurdness of the accusations, Miller had to create a protagonist with non-conformist views that would defy the insanity raised by the fictitious experiences of witchcraft. Miller creates the character John Proctor, a fictional character who does not conform to the madness of Salem. At times he may seem like a bad man trying to do a good deed, but, on the contrary, is quite a good man. Through the actions after his affair with Abigail, by defending his wife, and by standing up for his religious and personal viewpoints, John Proctor proves that he is indeed a good man.…

The Church of the Virgin Virtual Madonna (C.V.V.M.) was founded in 2003, following the death of singer/ songwriter Madonna. Although you can trace the roots of this institution back to the 1980’s, it was not until Madonna died from a gunshot wound that the religious aspect of this organization was formed. “Disciples” (followers) of her work believe Madonna to have entered the non-material plane of the internet and become a supreme being. Following her death, the community expanded and adopted a religious text, Madonna’s Sex, along with readings from Kinsey, Masters and Johnson. The community, as a whole believes themselves to be followers of a religion and part of a religious community.…

When people lose their dignity, they also lose a part of the very thing that makes them human. Despair, hopelessness, fear and apathy are all ways a human can lose their humanity. The eyes provide a window onto the soul, and thus a view on the person's mental state. The eyes also function in reverse, as a symbolic gesture of control over someone. All of this is present in Night, by Elie Wiesel, an account of human tragedy, human cruelty, human dignity, and the loss thereof.…

The question before the Court is the constitutionality of the Slave Trade Act. The bill was first proposed by Congressman Weber in 1858 in an attempt to prohibit the sale of slaves in the United States. The bill was passed into law in the spring of 1859. The petitioner congressman Ryan Suter, argues that the Slave Trade Act is unconstitutional. According to the court Suter argues “slaves are likened to property, the property owner has rights, guaranteed by the Constitution. Suter goes on to state “the Constitution clearly protects the broad police powers of the states this includes the regulation of all things within its borders for the wellbeing and safety of the citizens.”…
