Although his oratorical skills may not be up to par with those of his Democratic counterpart, Romney delivered an effective speech during the Republican National Convention mainly due to his appeal to a wide audience’s emotions, or pathos. Romney demonstrated humility during the beginning of his speech, as he gave a brief autobiography of his life growing up. Romney mentioned, “My friends did not judge me by what church I attended, but, rather, what sports I followed.” This was a clear representation of religious freedom. Romney wanted Americans to feel secure no matter what religion they practiced or what God they worshipped. He spoke of promise, as well. “Now is the time to restore the promise of America… My promise is to help you and your family”, he declared. These telegraphic sentences educed a sense of patriotism from his audience. In this time of disarray, Americans need to feel this sense of pride to restore…

This team goes above and beyond during the time of the transition to infuse the suggestions and concerns of the public with the Presidential agenda. Unfortunately, if expectations are not delivered, people tend to feel indifferent towards the executive branch, as well as deceived by their President. And when voters feel this way, the popularity of the President can be greatly affected, so much so, that it risk their chances of being re-elected. But because certain candidates, like Obama, develop strong backings from dedicated supporters, as The Economist describes them his “cult”, he was still successful when re-election came around. The only difference was that during his second term presidency, many people did not have many expectations from the executive administration because of the lack of accomplishment many voters saw in his first term. Expectations can play a big role in getting to the white house but once those expectations are set too high, they can come back to ruin a candidates chances of remaining in the White House, as well as having the public’s…

Yahoo News’ Senior Political Reporter Holly Bailey wrote an article after the first presidential debate about Mitt Romney. Unlike most articles about Romney’s lopsided win over President Obama Bailey’s article is about how Mitt Romney is showing a different side to voters. Mitt Romney has always been given the unfair classification of a aloof rich guy who enjoys politics as a side hobby. But in this article Bailey references how Romney is trying to show a softer side to himself. Ann Romney speaks about how her husband does not show the “real” Mitt and is trying to change this so that voters can relate more with him and see that he cares. With the election about a month away, Mitt Romney is doing all he can to show voters through personal stories and his demeanor that he cares about the American people. (Bailey, 2012). Through this article we can see a small view of how the candidates have a purpose for everything they do and in response to this we must be immune to emotional voting and instead vote on values.…

“Make America Great Again” is a phrase that will forever live in infamy. Those four simple words will always be associated with the darkest stain ever seen on both American history, and the Office of the President. Donald J. Trump was elected as President of the United States on November 8th, 2017, and on that day morals and truth became irrelevant. Though Trump’s assault on both the media, and the truth, existed long before this day, the very idea that so many Americans had bought his Brooklyn Bridge was almost too ridiculous to believe. The only relief provided from this crushing reality was his staggering popular vote loss; over 3 million voters more voters chose Hillary Clinton as their President instead of Trump. But even after Trump…
