Mockingjay Book Report
MockingJay

Mockingjay continues right where Catching Fire left off. Katniss is extracted from the Quartell Quell along with others who were also in the Quarter Quell. One person who was not there was Peeta. Peeta is still missing, and Katniss is going to save him. Peeta sends the rebels a coded message warning them that the Capitol will attack them. The Capitol finds out, and responds to this by torturing Peeta. The Capitol continues the bombing of District 13 just as Peeta predicted. The Capitol begins to brainwash Peeta, and makes Peeta believe that Katniss is the enemy. Peeta tries to kill Katniss, but she escapes and heads back to District 2. Katniss tries to get back to the fight, and gets shot once again, and bonds with Victor while she is recovering from the wound. After Katniss is done recovering she tries to do whatever she can to get back into the fight. During the fight, Katniss is put into the same unit as Peeta. This worries Katniss, and Commander Boggs. Commander Boggs dies, but before he dies he gives Katniss the command of the unit. Katniss decides that she is going to go on a secret mission to assassinate President Snow. The unit decides to help Katniss, and only 3 survive on their way. Those 3 include Katniss, Gale, and Peeta. They end up getting separated and Prim dies. Katniss gets shot once again, but the rebels captured President Snow. Right before Katniss executes President Snow, President Coin says that the people who have survived should vote whether or not the Hunger Games should continue. Katniss votes for the Hunger Games, and the Hunger Games continues, allowing more innocent children to die. When time comes around for Snow’s Execution, Katniss has the choice to either Kill Snow, or to let him survive. When Katniss pulls out her bow, she quickly turns and shoots President Coin instead. Katniss starts to breakdown, and she learns that she is being sent to another District. Katniss eventually is able to grieve for the

Since we spend at least half our waking lives on the job, we ought to like what we do. Fun on the job, in fact, ought to be a precondition for our careers. Whether you work within or help create a working environment, that environment simply must be a place where fun is not only an acceptable but an encouraged attitude on the part of the people in your organization.…

The book’s first chapter is about Dryden meeting Rachel. She runs into him early in the morning and asks “Yes or no, she said, I can’t wait any longer”(Lee 6). From how Patrick Lee describes the scene you can clearly tell Rachel does not have a lot of time to waste. She needs to get going as fast as possible. That is why I chose the song Time Bomb by All Time Low. The quote from the song is, “We were like a time bomb set into motion, we knew that we were destined to explode”. This quote works imperviously for the whole book. The two are always being chased down and Rachel constantly has time stuck on her mind. She always has to be on the run from the Government. She makes some friends on this journey, in the little time she feels safe. She has had time stuck in her head since she escaped the laboratory that they were testing her in. Rachel tells Dryden she can not wait very long. She is just trying to keep enough time between her and the government, or at least enough to let her live. She lost all of her memory and that will take time for it to all come back to…

In this bustling world, everyone is born with responsibility. We have the obligation and duty to satisfactorily complete each of the tasks that comes across us. In all the texts that had been covered in this semester, it seems that “Mockingjay” has provided relatively easier and comparable examples about responsibility. In this novel, the author’s idea of being an accountable person should make decisions to serve themselves as well as others. Besides, the writer emphasizes that it is very important for us to keep a balance between taking accountability for oneself and others. In order to become more successful, we should learn our own limitations and be responsible for ourselves before we can be responsible for others.…

Ladies and gentleman of the jury I find the book mocking jay by Suzanne Collins in 2010 to be very good at keeping me in suspense and keeping me interested. However, there were areas in which the book was not quite as good such as giving all the details, being too violent, and isn’t good for little kids. The book is a good book and I liked it but I didn’t like it as much as I did the first 2 books and this last book disappointed me. I was expecting some amazing ending to the series of the hunger games but I was let down from the things that happened in the book. Mocking jay is just a sad book that doesn’t even seem humane for the capitol to be doing to all of these different districts.…

Today is the day. The day where the Mockingjay unites with another to continue their lives together. Mother and I walk back to what’s left of the Seam, knowing it is a place worthy of a wedding. I found the dresses Cinna left behind for the forced wedding. Now, with Coin and Snow dead, nothing feels forced. I can hunt freely outside the District Limits put in place by the Peacekeepers. I can give to the poor what I catch, and I can make sure everyone is equal. I chose the least popular dress for the moment because I wanted to resist the Capitol to the maximum I could. I hate them for everything they did. Not just the military officials, everyone there. Taking all our resources and killing us off without a just reason. That’s why everyone needs a guiding light. And to me, Peeta’s light shines the brightest. He’s the reason I’m still alive. Because he risked himself to be captured by the Capitol so I would be safe. And only him will I trust to lead me into happiness.…

Speaking up and sharing your thoughts were the two main components, for me, when participating in the Seminar. The discussion itself started spontaneously and then we could move forward from a common idea. Movies and books are very different forms of media and when the two collide to share one common idea, which eventually leads to different perspectives making the conversation that more insightful and thoughtful. Many responses that were mentioned referred to certain scenes and texts, one student referred to page numbers which were followed by quotes, these brought different inputs into our seminar. I interpreted many things differently than others. I thought that the movie was made to contradict the book because the impact of the movie was…
