Middle School & High School

There are many similarities and differences between Middle School and High School. One similarity is that both Middle and High School have 7 periods. One difference between Middle and High School are the amount of class choices they have. There are many differences between Middle and High School that are quite obvious and some that are not and there are many similarities that Middle and High School share.

There are many similarities between both schools but one that stands out to me is that in both High School and Middle School there are 7 periods. The reason they both have seven is that the administrators of Lincoln Public Schools have decreed that 7 periods is the most efficient way to teach us without taking up to much time or not being long enough of a day. Another difference is that both High and Middle School teachers are paid on salaries. No matter what school you go to in the LPS system all teachers are paid on salaries. The last similarity is that all students in both schools get lockers. In both Middle and High school students are assigned lockers to store their books, backpacks, and other supplies. The locker is a vital utility in the lives of High and Middle schoolers. Very rarely does a student not use their locker, the amount of books you accumulate through all your Middle and High school classes are simply too much for any student to be able to carry all day so they allow us to use our lockers in which we can temporarily store those things and have easy access to them when we need to.

The number one difference between Middle and High School is the fact that the workload is much much much bigger. They practically spend all of 8th grade year telling that the amount of work you have to do in High School is so much greater than that in Middle School. There were many long stretches of days in Middle School where you would not have homework or you had very little homework. You would also almost always never have homework over any sort of breaks. In High School you get homework on almost every day of the school year and even during the summer break. You get homework from just about every class you’re in and you will more than likely have homework or a project over break. Another example of a difference are the amount of class choices you get in High School compare to Middle school. There are a multitude of class choices in High School compared to the relatively small list of electives you get in Middle School. The High Schools have more leeway as to what classes they can offer as where the Middle Schools can only offer so many classes within their limited budget and the size of their buildings. Therefore the amount of class choices offered to you in High School can be a bit daunting. The last difference between Middle and High School are the sports! Middle schools generally offer volleyball, basketball, track and flag football. High Schools offer Volleyball, basketball, cross country, track, football, baseball, soccer, tennis, golf, bowling, softball, and cheerleading. There are many differences and many similarities between High School and Middle school. Both Middle and High School teachers are paid on salaries but High Schools offer more classes and Middle Schools offer few. Although Middle School and High School have their similarities and differences they both do an excellent job at preparing the students, who attend school and work hard, for the next stage of their lives. Both schools are very important in kids lives and both develop them for success later on in their lives.
