Michael Jordan

The person that I have admired my whole life would be Michael Jordan. He was born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. Michael Jordan is a former National Basketball Association(NBA) player, businessman, and majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. He is acclaimed to be “the greatest basketball player of all time.” The high lights of his career include his six National Basketball Association Championships with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan played on two gold medal Olympic teams in 1984 and 1992. Michael Jordan moved to Wilmington, North Carolina when he was still a toddler. In high school he played baseball, football, and basketball. During his sophomore year he tried out for the varsity basketball team. He was cut mostly because he was too short (5’11”) to play at that level. Michael was motived to show he had the talent to be on varsity. He played on junior varsity and had many 40 point games. When he was senior he started varsity and was selected for the McDonalds All-American team. His play earned him a basketball scholarship to North Carolina. He finished his freshmen year as ACC player of the year. Michael was so good he left college one year early and entered in the 1984 NBA draft. He was drafted to the Chicago Bulls as the third over-all pick. He went back to North Carolina to complete his degree in 1986. Michael Jordan’s was named NBA rookie of year. He led the bulls to a 38-44 but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Milwaukee Bucks. Michael’s second season didn’t go as well; he broke his foot and missed 64 games out of a 72 game schedule. He healed up just in time for the playoffs. Michael had one of the greatest performances of all time. He scored an unbroken record of 63 points in a single playoff game. In his third season he led the Bulls to the playoffs for the third time in a row but never made it to the championship. Little did Michael know that that there would be plenty of opportunities
