Wal-Mart Organizing Paper
Business economy today has seen vast amounts of businesses fail. However, Wal-Mart Corporation is standing and increases their revenue yearly. In 2009 alone, Wal-Mart generated approximately $404 billion dollars in revenue. That type of success only proves that the organization has everything in order to keep on the track of success. Within this paper, an evaluation of the organizing function, in relation to technology and human resources, will show how efficient and effective Wal-Mart’s operational resources are. This paper will go on to demonstrate how Wal-Mart Corporation utilizes their upper management and the decisions that are made. Technology plays a large role in the performance of Wal-Mart Corporation. The company’s use of technology has contributed to their overwhelming success. The use of computer systems that are able to support the massive inventory, sales, and personnel is a key component of the corporation. Without the proper technology, the company would never have been successful. “Technology is only a tool and not as important as people, regardless of the size, and can have a major impacts on the company sales, profits, and overall success” (Sederquist, 2005, p. 137). The way Wal-Mart utilizes their technological resources has benefited them in many ways. From business expenses to improving customer service, Wal-Mart’s technology has allowed them to create a winning strategic plan. Wal-Mart began to strategize a plan that embodied requirements that maximize the overall benefits of technology throughout their company. Wal-Mart believes that managers should provide support to their senior leaders and help in the decision making process.
