Decision-Making Process
Decision-making can be a complex task to do. Some decision cannot be made within a few second. Therefore, to avoid conflict, some decision must be throughout. Such as what the decision is, who will be involved and how would the decision affect them. Also, alternatives should be considered. Implementation of and commitment to the decision is paramount.
I had to make a decision to either go back to college or to put college on hold for a few more years for my son. Before a decision is made, I had to ask myself a few questions and I had to find a solution for them. One question was what college was closer to my house. I wanted to stay close to my child incase of an emergency. Second question, was how many units and classes I would be able to take without it affecting my child’s activities. My son’s needs always come first; therefore, I had to find classes to fit my schedules. Third, who will take care of my child when am in class. My child’s daycare closes at 6:00 P.M. so I need to find someone that will be able to watch him after 6:00 P.M. or pick her up at Last, how much more will childcare cost for the evening that I am in class.
I had to look at alternatives such as online classes instead of on campus classes. Also, I had to analyze each alternative before a decision can be made. While doing so, I found that there were advantages and disadvantages. For example, I can go to school on Tuesday’s nights but I would need to pick up my son from her grandfather’s house after 10:00 P.M. After looking at my alternatives and priorities, I found that the best decision was to go back to school online through Axia.
I think that my decision-making process was very similar to the one in the readings. I reviewed my alternatives before deciding on going back to college. I found solutions for my alternatives that helped me make my decision to go back to school. I do not believe that my outcome of my decision would have been different because I used a

Considering the market position of the company, as far as supply of the innovative kickstands is concerned, I would consider applying to be one of Wal-Mart’s suppliers. As a move to improve the company’s market share and utilization of the company’s excess capacity, contacting Wal-Mart would be an effective move. Research reveals that choosing to supply via Wal-Mart will improve the company’s current distribution process. Apart from benefits of utilizing the company’s idle manufacturing capacity, there will be instant access to the world’s largest global retailing network through Wal-Mart. The company will benefit from increased sales capacity, as Wal-Mart’s inevitably efficient operation will mean exponential increase in sales volume. Besides, research reveals that suppliers who seek to utilize Wal-Mart’s wide market derive benefits from a strengthened market position (Perry & Bloom, 2001). Therefore, to position the company to take up advantage of the association, I will consider applying to become a Wal-Mart supplier.…

Every successful organization uses the five management functions; but not many can compare with the United States Armed Forces. I am currently serving in the U.S. Army and this organization has effectively applied the five management functions, because its existence depends on those five functions. They Army is constantly engaging in the five management functions; their operations are well led, organized, carefully planned, staffed, and constantly evaluated. I do not believe there is any organization other than the military where you would see these five functions linking so well coordinated.…

Of all the aspects of MTI, innovation strategy is the most challenging. Firms can be very good at the various activities involved in MTI, such as R & D or operations, but this count for little unless it is supported by a well-grounded innovation strategy that guides firms’ choices, prioritizations, and sequences. There is little value in being highly efficient at developing or delivering new products and services if they are the wrong products and services for the firm and its markets. Well-chosen new products and services deliver value, build the technological base of the firm, develop its capabilities, improve its processes, and add to its reputation and brands. An innovation strategy helps firms decide, in a cumulative and sustainable manner, about the type of innovation that best match corporate objectives. The following information is used to determine when, where, how, if and what innovations to be used in business. Also we will discuss the areas of sustainability, CSR, and ethics within an organization.…

Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick, wrote “We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men” (Quote Garden, n.d.). We must help our fellow man to become truly successful. Businesses are not separate from this belief. Companies have taken part in corporate responsibility to help communities overcome tragedy. Their assistance can lead to a better economy, safer communities, and help rebuild after natural disasters. In this paper I will be role-playing as Nik who was recently hired by Chevron and sent to Kava, an island in the South Pacific. My first assignment in Kava is to find a way the company can establish a greater presence on the island. This assignment is faced with many issues because of disaster threats on the island. I will be defining and discussing the issues facing Kava, difficulties in building a greater presence in Kava, and the problem formulation tools and techniques used.…

    1. From each change perspective, what are the key issues to understanding the wildcat strike? From an OD perspective, the leadership at BA failed in a number of areas. They did not communicate properly, they ignored the temperature of the relationship with employees, and they were shortsighted in implementing the change. This was evident in the lack of sense in implementing a change at the front of the busiest season of the year. They did not properly manage the change and in fact ignored most all areas of change management: they did not prepare employees, they did not communicate, they did not nurture employees through the change, nor did they reinforce the change and the reasons for it. From a contingency standpoint – they did not have one. As a result, customers suffered and the company lost millions. Their processes were ineffective and upper management was not informed enough to understand the consequences of their actions.…
