1. Create a vision and demonstrate commitment- Organizations must create and define their values, mission, and vision. This System allows them to have a long-term direction for its employees and management. Having a long-term view on serving customers and employees consist on investments in innovation, training, and research. A company must also take responsibility in providing jobs as well as improving competitive position in the market.
2. Learn the new philosophy- Companies cannot survive with poor conformance quality or poor fitness because it would leave the customers dissatisfied. Companies now days need to take a customer-driven approach based on mutual cooperation between labor and management, while creating a never-ending cycle of continuous improvement.
3.Understand Inspection- Originally inspections were used for quality control, but nowadays inspections should be used as an information-gathering tool. With this they can create improvements. This new standard has already been implemented into the quality control practices of most companies.
4. Stop Making Decisions Purely on the Basis of Cost- Basically the cheaper the cost the lower the quality is going to be. Bad quality won’t get you to the top of the competition, and is typically short lived. Deming urges businesses to establish long term relationships with fewer suppliers. This allows them to work together for mutual improvement. Modern supply chain management SCM relies on these beliefs of minimizing total supply chain cost and developing stronger partnerships with suppliers.
5. Improve Constantly and Forever- Improvements are necessary in both design and operations. Improved designs and operations can be found through various forms of market research. Survey, feedback, and understanding customer needs are a few examples.
