There is also the help with maintain a way of living with independent care.     Helping others puts you in direct contact with other people’s lives. As you probably have experienced, your compassion for those you help has both positive and negative aspects. Compassion fatigue can strike the most caring and dedicated nurses, social workers, physicians and personal support workers alike.     If the client trusts me, communication will help solve their issues. Empathy is proving to the client that you feel for them. It would make a client upset to have the social worker feel sorry for them.     Since the beginning of complex societies, the public has always been intrigued by the very broad idea of professionalism. And over the course of American history the age of information and computerization has paved the way for the public to gain a better understanding of what the professional title entails.
