Lion is the king of the jungle. Lions are the largest of the big cats. They vary in color but typically sport light yellow- brown coats. The largest Lions have reached a total body length of up to 48 inches high, over curves and have weighed up to 330 to 500 pounds in the wild. They are superb predators and mammals. (Paul Janssen, P. (n.d.). Lion facts) The Lion usually live in the savannas, grasslands, dense bush, and woodlands. They are life span 10 to 14 years in the wild; up to 20 years in captivity. Besides, Lions are being killed in rituals of bravery, as hunting trophies, and for their perceived medicinal and magical powers. ( Lion | African Wildlife Foundation). They usually spend 16 to 20 hours a day sleeping and resting, devoting the remaining hours to hunting, courting or protecting their territory. They keep in contact with one another by roaring loud enough to be heard up to five miles away.( Lion facts. (n.d.)). Lions are among the most recognisable and popular of the world's charismatic megafauna. They have been featured prominently in ancient mythology and folklore, and continue to be depicted in modern films and literature. They appear on many flags, coats of arms, and as mascots for sporting teams. The tiger is the national animal of Singapora. We must protect them.

In Secondhand Lions, I felt that there were many important life lessons. From the start of the movie I thought that there might not be any connection between the uncles and Walter. Throughout the movie I realized that I was very wrong and that this new family had a lot to learn from each other. By the end of the story I could truly see that the everything that happened between the characters would always be with them the rest of their life. Both Walter and his uncles learned a great deal about life which all of them needed to know.…

Cecil may have been one of the world's most famous and popular lions at Hwange National Park in Africa. He was lured out of a protected National Park then killed by Walter Palmer, a recreational big-game hunter with a crossbow. His death infuriated the whole world, now, everyone wants justice. Big game hunting is a huge problem in the Eastern hemisphere and around the world; therefore more things should be done to protect big game from trophy hunters. Mark Albins, a student doctor who was working with Hixon, says that about eighty percent of the fish living on a single reef can be killed by a lionfish in as little time as five weeks. He also says that lionfish are practically fearless and often consume preys that are almost as big as the lionfish themselves.…

In five months alone, over 3,000 sea lion pups, at a point teetering towards death, washed ashore on Southern Californian beaches, fifteen times more than in past years, due to toxic algal blooms. Merriam Webster calls algal blooms, “rapid and excessive growths of a plankton population.” Since 1998, scientists have been aware of sea lions and their pups being intoxicated by domoic acids from toxic algal blooms. Agricultural and suburban areas are the main culprits as excess fertilizer and pesticides from fields and lawns are washed away in urban runoff and travel to our oceans by stormdrain. The nutrients in fertilizers and pesticides are overfeeding the algae, producing toxic algal blooms that expel poisonous…

In the Article, “The Wild Life of Christian the Lion” by Tod Olson and the poem, “Wild Home,” by Rebecca Kai Dotlich both had the same theme. The theme for both of the two were about how lions should not be caged up, they should be free to roam around. I know this because in the article, it said that “ Two young men-Ace Brooks and John Rendall-walked into Harrods and saw the lion cub trapped in a small cage.” They means that Ace Brooks and John Rendall felt bad for Christian and felt like they needed to get him out of that cage. Also the article basically said that It would turn into a 500 pound lion with 4 inch razor sharp claws which means he could get really dangerous and possibly kill. Finally, they said that ”But as their plane took off,…

Unaware of the nearby predator, the hoofed mammal grazed peacefully. The nearby lioness looking for a good meal for its children, stopped. A rustle of grass and in the distance made her ears twitch. Then she knew it was time for lunch. Surveying the savannah, she spotted the distinctive black and white stripes. The zebra itself, wary of nearby carnivores, couldn’t see the camouflaged golden lioness in the similarly golden grass. It gave up and carried on eating his lunch. Soundlessly, the stealthy lioness crept over the savannah. It stopped only 100 meters away and sized up the lonesome zebra.…
