Leadership
There are some concepts about leadership in the world, some people think leaders are born, and some people believe that leaders are made. If employees believe that leaders are born and not made, it may be demoralising. Some people may have the inherent qualities to become leaders, but they may not have developed their leadership because nobody else has ever noticed potential leadership qualities in them. Leaders move out of comfort zones. When one reflects on whether leaders are born or made, it is important to define what a leader is as well as to distinguish between a leader in management and a leader in another field of expertise. “Leadership and management are two distinctive yet complementary systems of action.”(Story Cover, 1993). Because “management power comes from organizational structure, it promotes stability, order and problem solving within the structure. Leadership power, on the other hand, comes form personal sources that are not as invested in the organization, such as personal interests, goals and values. Leadership power promotes vision, creativity and change in the organization” (Samson and Daft, 2005). Management centres on handling complexity and Leadership are to face the new challenges (Story, 1993). For example, in peacetime, an army can train very well under good management, but there is no one who can manage people into battle, the soldiers of course will led by leaders (Story, 1993). “Management is a skill that can be learned, Leadership is a calling”(Shea, cited in Story, 1993, p.34). Shea acknowledges, “Some leadership qualities can be learned, but only if the 'raw material' exists” (Shea, cited in Story, 1993, p.34). Therefore when good leaders are provided with ample management skills, then they can get their goals, good leaders will be able to communicate their goals to employees in such an effective way that the employees will be able to identify with the goals and will strive to achieve it. “According to Shea, a good manager may

Leadership and Management are two terms that are often used interchangeably, or else used in very close relation with each other. But leadership is something that is difficult to define, because it is a word that can be defined in a number of different ways. Broadly speaking, however, leadership refers to the ability of an individual to influence a group of subordinate individuals to behave according to a certain manner, and the methods used to motivate those individuals to work together in order to attain a particular goal (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2000, p.4). Leaders, in other words, are innovators, they are men and women of vision, who take risks to inspire and to do the right thing. Management, meanwhile, is more concerned with organization, efficiency, oversight of employees - the more day-to-day activities involved in the running of an organization and in making sure that the organization and its employees are doing things right (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2000, p.8)…

This project summarizes the concept of transforming leaders, which Transforming leadership mean a process in which "leaders and followers help each other to advance to a higher level of morale and motivation". If we trying to move into a new leadership position, we must correctly diagnose the situation we’ll be facing in that new role, we risk over relying on strategies that worked for us in the past, but those approaches won’t necessarily work in new environments, so Michael Watkins developed the STARS model. To succeed in your new role, Michael Watkins recommends these steps: First (Diagnose the situation) Are you leading a startup, A turnaround, accelerated Growth, realignments, or sustaining success. Second (Select the right organizational strategies) For instance, turnarounds require faster (time pressure), riskier changes than realignments like painful cut and call for technical learning (strategies, markets, technologies). Realignments are slow and focus on cultural and political learning. Third (Adopt the right leadership style) For example, in turnarounds, people are hungry for hope, vision, and direction. You’ll need a heroic style charging against the enemy, sword flashing. Realignments require stewardship: diplomatic building of consensus around the need for change.…

One of the most often overlooked aspects of leadership is the need for pursuit. Great leaders are never satisfied with traditional practice, static thinking, conventional wisdom, or common performance. In fact, the best leaders are simply uncomfortable with anything that embraces the status quo. In the text that follows I’ll examine the value of being a pursuer……
