Credible Information Debate

Wikipedia is one of the most sought out information website. Jimmy Wales, founder says this about his website, “Wikipedia is something special…, it is a place we can all go to think, to learn and share our knowledge with others” (Wikipedia, 2012, p1). This resourceful tool has up-to-date news, press releases, and it provides its users with the convenience to various languages. In this paper team C will debate on supporting arguments for Wikipedia and opposing arguments if it is credible and a valid source of information.
Supporting Arguments Wikipedia is a virtual library that offers its readers a diverse range of information from articles, books, dictionary, references, thesaurus, timelines, and current events.
The website’s trade mark, the puzzled globe symbolize working together with a network in many countries to empower the global community. Wikipedia’s main purpose for existence is to collect information and make it available to the world at large. One can conclude that with the vast array of knowledge, Wikipedia offers its users a vast amount of information that will suffice any research.
Opposing arguments Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia; providing facts, advice, and opinions from one or more contributors. Although it provides users with a vast amount of information there is often no citation for the facts, which does not allow the reader to confirm the credibility of the record. The mere fact that anyone can manipulate the content submitted allows some readers to challenge the website information as biased or fabricated. Credentials are an important aspect of research; providing information only on topics in which they publish on their website.
Resolution
In conclusion Team C views Wikipedia in different aspects, which analyze both sides of the argument. Wikipedia is a resourceful informational site but use it with

In Week Five, you begin to understand the mindset of the consultant. How will you recognize potential barriers to a planned change? What can cause this resistance? As the consultant, you must understand the goals associated with a given change and develop the ability to identify, plan for, and manage potential barriers to the change. These barriers can manifest themselves in terms of people, processes, and technology, or a combination of these. Change initiatives are complex and initiated where people interact with individuals such as a new manager; with processes such as a new way of doing things; or with technology such as new information systems. When you encounter resistance, alternative strategies for implementing the change must be considered; however, you have no direct authority to implement the change and must succeed through your ability to navigate this complex environment. When and if you engage the executive management of your client to force the change, the change initiative is almost sure to fail; therefore, the key to successful change is sustainable adoption and acceptance.…

Team member John misses an internal deadline, which becomes the catalyst for a round of emails that result in harsh words, insults, threats, and an uncomfortable team. Personal variables include “personality, emotions, and values” (Yukl, 2012, p. 452), and are demonstrated in this Storybook in the conflicting personalities and values of Antonio and John. Team deadlines can cause many conflicts among team members who value deadlines differently. Some individuals feel like a deadline is set in stone and no matter the consequence to others, the deadline must be met. Other individuals feel that yes there is a deadline, but if other important issues arise the deadline can be extended. In this case, John missed a deadline due to a separate project and Antonio saw it as a lack of dedication to their team. The results of this conflict affected the team as a whole until it was…

Wikipedia has been a successful source of information.Wikipedia does have a wealth of knowledge. I have used it a lot to find facts about different people, places, and books. Anyone can post material on Wikipedia as stated in the disclaimer. So this information does not necessarily have to be the most accurate. This information could be old the facts may not…

Dear Wikipedia readers: We are the small non-profit that runs the #5 website in the world. We have only 175 staff but serve 500 million users, and have costs like any other top site: servers, power, programs, and staff. Wikipedia is something special. It is like a library or a public park. It is like a temple for the mind, a place we can all go to think and learn. To protect our independence, we 'll never run ads. We take no government funds. We survive on donations averaging about $30. Now is the time we ask. If everyone reading this gave $3, our fundraiser would be done within an hour. If Wikipedia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online and ad-free another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Wikipedia. Thank you.…

Valid or Not Valid? While doing my research it was clear that there is more information as to why Wikipedia is not a valid source than a valid one. It was a challenge to find any articles that would see Wikipedia as a valid source of information. One being that the site can be changed by anyone and that persons credentials can be unknown, irrelevant or nonexistent. The sources or references listed for which the information is based on can be invalid, lack relevance or reliability. A second reason would be what was written may not necessarily had been for academic or professional audiences. Because it is unclear how many other theories were exhausted from consideration, and ideas expressed could be based entirely on biased or opinion. Lastly I would say uncertainty of the accuracy of information provided. In example, dates can be out dated, erroneous, or not based on the facts. All the before mentioned are contributing factors to why I believe Wikipedia.com is not a credible…
