“Keeping Up with the Kardashians (often referred to simply as The Kardashians) is an American reality television series that premieres on E!. It follows the lives of the Kardashian/Jenner family, including sisters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé Kardashian” (Wikipedia).
Keeping up with the Kardashian’s is a very famous show amongst all the young women, ages anywhere from twelve to mid thirty’s. Baran would argue that being a media literate is important because this show is a huge show and these sisters are very famous amongst a lot of different kind of people. All of the sisters are gorgeous; they dress nicely and live the life that many people can just dream of. Therefore, many women out there buy clothes like the Kardashians wear, or curl their hair like the Kardashian sisters do and sometimes even start talking like them. Media only shows the glamour, the success and good but not the struggle behind the scenes. Yes, the Kardashian’s are living an amazing life but at the same time they do go through criticism and humiliation. “Television influences our culture in innumerable ways” (23 Baran). This quote is simply answering our question of how badly can media or things on television can affect our lives. Media literacy can be taken in two ways, good or bad; and most of the time people normally tend to take the media literacy in a bad way. “Media literacy is a skill we take for granted, but like all skills, it can be improved” (24 Baran).
Keeping up with the Kardashians is a great show and it does play a huge role in my life. When I watch this show, I want to own things that the sisters own and dress like them. That’s because I have become a huge fan of Kardashian’s and they mean a lot to me. I have followed them on twitter, instagram and added them as a friend on facebook. This is my normal show to watch and I also watch Shah’s of Sunset. These are my two top shows that I watch when I have time. Shah’s of Sunset and Kardashian’s are really alike. Both of the shows
