Miss Representation is a documentary written by Jennifer Siebel Newsom that explains how mainstream media plays a big role on gender inequalities in our society. The film discus many subjects from the lack of women in politics to how women are negatively betrayed by the media. The documentary is aimed at America’s society to keep an open mind and educate the viewer of how mainstream media affects our opinions and behavior. In the beginning of the film, pathos is strongly evident. The emotional attempt is directed to the audience right from the start. During the first three minutes of the documentary, the speaker talks about being pregnant with a daughter. The speaker goes on to say that getting the news of having a daughter is what started her on this path because she worries about her daughter growing up in in a society with gender inequalities.
