Similar to integrity, leadership can sometimes be difficult to define and can have various meanings depending on a person’s views, values, and beliefs. To me leadership, or being a good leader, means to set an example, direction, to motivate, and to maximize individual efforts to achieve one main goal. My employment with Jamba Juice has had a tremendous impact on how I view leadership, and how I currently and will continue to use my new views to improve our store.

At many of my previous jobs I was shown that a leader was someone who constantly told you what do but did not set an example. Thanks to Greg, Nikki, and many others in our management team, I have learned what it means to be a true leader. Their work ethic is an example alone. It has taught me to show pride in my work, always be productive, to help team members when needed, to have integrity, and patience, and so much more. I have had many ups and few downs at Jamba Juice, however regardless of what is going on I always strive to do the best I can do. I personally cannot think of many thing that I have brought to improve the store, but more like what I have learned and applied to my daily work ethic. I believe I have helped our store improve by always having great customer service and treating each guest with respect. I also believe I have helped improve our store by never going against authority, and always following direction. (Greenleaf, 1997) Integrity is one of those attributes. (Greenleaf, 1997) Integrity is a firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. (“Dictionary and Thesaurus – Merriam-Webster Online”, n.d.) When referencing servant leadership, integrity is a very important attribute. There are also supporting attributes to integrity. Some of those are communication, credibility, and influence. A hypothetical situation that demonstrates integrity would be as follows, a manager keeps an employee up to date on struggles the organization is experiencing with frequent meetings to inform the employees on the status of the organization. If the organizations struggles to meet their performance goals, and are struggling it is important for the employees to know. The consequences of the organization’s struggle could indicate future lay-offs. If this would occur, it is important that the employees understand this could be a possibility to give them an opportunity to look elsewhere for employment if the company continues to struggle. In this scenario, the manager would be viewed as using referent power. The leader is seen in a positive light and becomes transparent. I feel this is important in a leadership role as it enables the leader to be viewed as likable and trusted. The leader impact in a situation like this would be viewed…

A good leader must demonstrate the qualities that they want to see in their employees. For example at organizations like Starbucks and McDonalds the order takers are always friendly and greet you with a smile. This is a part of their customer focus, so a leader must be able to demonstrate these same qualities. If you saw your leader being rude or mean to customers yet they are always telling you to be nice this would be seen as a contradiction. Then you as the employee could lose respect for the leader because they are not effectively demonstrating what they want to be done. An effective leader must be able to lead by…

The subject Aldous Huxley has chosen to write about is a world in which everything is “perfect” a world in which everyone feels fulfilled through false mechanics. Emotions of fear and anger are no longer stimulated through dangerous encounters with the outside world. Humans are treated through V.P.S (Violent Passion Surrogate) to feel these emotions with no harm being done to there bodies. This still gives them the adrenaline rush that they need monthly, allowing them to feel “alive”. The world Huxley creates tells us that the only way a perfect society can exist is to no longer allow humans to believe in supernatural forces such as God and jesus and to take away the fear of dying and getting old. Thus allowing humans no need for God.…

Three reasons why I think that I will be a successful leader are that I have: motivation, time management skills, and people skills. The first reason, motivation, is one of the best traits that you could have. Motivation is used when your employees or workers aren’t having a good day or are down in the dumps. You use motivation to brighten up their days, whether it’s something that you would say to them or if it’s something you give them to build their confidence and will to work on what they are working on.…

The Importance of Accountability is so you know where everyone and everything is at, at all times. It is also necessary to have accountability to make sure everything and everyone that your in charge of is secure and where they are supposed to be. When you have accountability it is easier to track down people or items if you were to need a person or item for anything. Being accountable means being dependable, showing up to work and to appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being at the right place and at the right time and doing the right thing. Accountability is not only for keeping track of other people it can also mean keeping track of money, gear, legal documents, and many other things. Ways you can help improve accountability is have every person’s phone number and also the buddy system is a good way to find out where someone will be. I think the whole reason for having accountability is so we get to work on time, so we stay safe and if a person were to get into trouble someone could come and help that person out. It is also helpful to have a cell phone so you can always be reached. If you always have a hundred percent accountability you will never have any problems like wondering where someone or something is or wondering why something missing. If you ever have a problem like that then it is because you are not doing a very good job at keeping track of anything. Personal accountability of all of your equipment, gear, and paperwork insures that you leave nothing behind.…

It is difficult to narrow down the many instances where I have showed great leadership but many can be found in my involvements in teamwork. I have been looked to as a leader and have taken responsibility for various group projects. I have discovered much about fairness, compromise, and responsible qualities that are required to be a "good" leader. Often, I have had to sacrifice my own free time and personal desires for the benefit of the group. I believe this is the most important part of being a leader, the ability to sacrifice individual time and desires for the overall gain of the people that you are leading.…

I have experience being in leader in a few main aspects of my life; through community service, FFA, and at my job. Some of the valuable leaderships traits that I obtained and strengthened are: being a good team member, communication skills, solving conflicts, and being opened minded to new ideas and thoughts. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic.…
