Informative Speech About Shoes
Introduction:
Now, I don’t consider myself a basic white girl. I don’t drink Starbucks, and I don’t own a pair of Uggs, but I do have to admit I love shoes, everything from my black combat boots to my sparkly gold stilettos. My favorite pair of shoes, happens to be a simple pair of slip on shoes, that I painted to look like Hogwarts from Harry Potter. (Attention Getter) I have been painting for most of my life, and discovered that shoes are my favorite thing to paint on. Decorating my slip-ons was the first time I’d painted shoes, but since then, I’ve painted six or seven pairs. (Establishing Credibility) This particular pair of shoes is very interesting to many people for a couple of different reasons, and very precious to me. (Thesis) Today

They are also super comfortable shoes. They are my number one, go to shoes no matter what the season is.
II. These shoes are mainly interesting to two types of people.
A. Artists and art lovers appreciate them for the unique medium, and the painting. The curves and angles of the shoe make it difficult for a design to be properly transferred and proportioned, and the design I found had been painted on a different type of shoe adding another layer of difficulty to the painting process.
B. The other types of people are Harry Potter fans. The front part of the shoe depicts the castle of Hogwarts, while the sides are painted with quotes from the books and the backs have other book based designs. They’re shoes fit for a fan-girl.
III. Making the shoes was a challenge. I hadn’t copied a design before, and the original picture, was only 5 by 4 inches big. First, I painted the base color on the shoes, and let it dry. I then used a pencil to sketch the design, and quotes, onto the shoes. I used a mix of gold and brown paint to get the color I wanted and used a toothpick to apply the paint, first on the lines, and second, to fill in the shading. It may not sound like a very long process, but it took me about 8 hours to complete my shoes. I finished off the shoes with a clear protecting spray that locked the paint into

Since its inception and production in 1935 by Paul A. Sperry, this shoe style and brand have taken the fashion world by storm due to its purposive and elegant design. Originally introduced as boat shoes, Sperry Topsiders have expectedly evolved into a fashion staple which is now used by almost everyone these days as a day-to-day wear. The look of Sperry shoes is simple---a non-marking, non-slip sole, the usual leather or canvass composition of the shoe, the visible stitching normally contrasting on the shoes overall hue and the legendary boat shoe knot. The main aim of getting Sperry shoes manufactured are for boat crews and the aid it will give for the always bustling crowds on cruises and boat travels. But since fashion is always the inventive canopy, Sperry shoes are now seen as parts of clothing ensemble to make it more appealing to the eye.…

Every day a person may take five minutes to hours deciding what colors to wear and what their outfits should look like and decide whether or not their outfit is presentable to the people who may be seeing them. Social events and our social lives can and may affect our wardrobes and what we choose to wear a specific day, but why do some people choose to wear specific shades of certain colors with one another? Elisabeth Camp presents in her “The Socio-Aesthetics of Pink” the idea that the shades of a specific color can hold a personality which had been shaped by those who’ve influenced the color through branding and product naming, along with the way they have presented the color. One of the more affected social groups from this color branding is children, especially young girls who are exposed to the varied hues of the color pink. All of the shades of pink…

The first person to wear these was King Louis XIV (Reflections). His desire to show off the golden sun buckle on the inside of his shoe led to the development of the common first five positions seen in ballet today (ballet terms). In the 1700’s the soft ballet shoes started to evolve. These were made of leather soles and usually pink silk and fit like a child’s glove. The first pointe shoes were not structured like the ones worn today, rather they were only darned on the sides and bottom (reflections). Because of this, dancing en pointe was much like dancing barefoot. Around the 1800’s the modern pointe shoe went into development. Satin, leather, paper and paste were and still are the primary components of a blocked pointe shoe (history of ballet). The change in shoe forced many other changes to be made to the traditional ballet, basically reforming the whole…

Attention- getter: What would you do if somebody came into this classroom and pointed a gun at you as if they were going to kill you for no reason? First thing that would come to mind is, “Am I really going to die right now” and “Why is a person on campus with a gun trying to kill people?” Sad part is, an event like this has happened many times in the past. For instance, the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting as well as the Colorado movie theatre shooting that all took place within the past year[example]. These mass shootings have brought up the issue of controlling who is able to purchase guns and if it is safe and necessary to roam around in public armed with a weapon.…
