So who here loves to travel? I personally love to travel and see new places, I have yet to travel overseas into Europe, but it’s definitely on my list of new adventures. I have been to parts of Mexico countless times,(like Cancun and Cabo San Lucas) and to the Virgin Islands a couple of times,( St. Croix was the island I visited), and then I went to Costa Rica for about a month a couple of summers ago, and stayed in Ocotal, which is the very western side of Costa Rica, right underneath Nicaragua. So you may think of traveling as just going somewhere and staying in a hotel with a pool, going out to dinner at different restaurants and enjoying the beach or something that’s not around you daily wherever you live. So, today I want to inform you about tourism and the different types of tourism, and how you can use these tools to enrich your experiences in traveling. The purpose of tourism is to enrich your life, by furthering your understanding and appreciation of other cultures and places in the world. There are many different types of tourism. The types of tourism that I want to focus on today are cultural tourism, environmental tourism, and historical tourism.

Cultural tourism is very rich and diverse and covers all aspects of travel where people learn about other countries, and their way of life. A study from the Travel industry of America (TIA) and the Smithsonian magazine shows a growing interest in travelers to experience cultural, artistic, historic, and heritage activities. The experiences through cultural tourism are considered cultural factors. For example, if I go to a different country or region based on the experience I will have there, through the people, their food, environment, way of life, language, art, these are all apart of cultural tourism. We don’t really think about it, but America has a culture that other people seek, like having a Democracy, a free nation, a McDonald’s on every corner, or the fact that
