Dear Hugh,
It has been months since the last time I heard from you. How was your winter break? I’m sorry that I was too busy to reply your letter. Now I have more free time because Tet Holiday is only a week away.
Tet Holiday is our traditional festival, which is also known as Lunar New Year. It comes later than your New Year in Britain, around the end of January and the begin of February. Since Tet is our biggest holiday of the year, there are many special activities on this occasion. We clean and decorate our house with peach flowers to welcome guests visiting us because relatives ands friends usually come to see each other on Tet. We send wishes to people we love, especially to children and the elderly by giving them red pockets of lucky money. Therefore, Tet is the occasion Vietnamese show care and respect to others. This explains why Tet is the most favourite holiday to many people, including me.
This year I even have an amazing plan for Tet Holiday. I am going to work at Vietnam Museum of Ethonoly as a volunteer for two days, hence I have the chance to enjoy Tet in many different ways of Vietnamese ethnic groups. Does it sound fascinating enough for you to be jealous with me? Don’t worry, I will send you some banh chung, our traditional cake on Tet holiday. Just kidding, dream on!

Viet Nam celebrates a lot of holidays in a year. In my opinion, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, also called Tet Nguyen Dan, is the most important and joyful holiday. It is celebrated on the first day of the first month in Lunar Calendar. Tet’s celebration is the longest holiday that has usually lasted for six days. Tet Nguyen Dan is an occasion for Vietnamese people to express their respect and remembrance for their ancestor as well as welcoming the New Year with their beloved family members. On December 30th , all of family members gather to have a big last meal for the old year, sharing all feeling, experiences gained through the whole year together. They tell each other their happy or even sad stories . Three days before Tet, Vietnamese people usually clean their houses carefully, polish every utensil, and decorate the house with many colors: Mai trees with yellow or white flowers, Peach-blossom branches with pink flowers, Watermelon with green color, and votive papers with red color. To celebrate Tet, parents usually buy children new clothes and shoes to wear on the first day of New Year. Besides, Vietnamese people cook or buy many Vietnamese good food. For example, Banh Chung, a rice cake, stuffed it with cooked bean paste and ground meat in the middle, boiled chicken, picked onions, and Vietnamese sausage. According to Vietnamese traditional custom, on the first three day of the New Year, Vietnamese people visit paternal side on the first day, maternal on the second day, teachers on the third day. After that, they come and see their relatives, friends, and neighbors. Although all of my families have been living in the United States, we usually try to get together to celebrate Vietnamese Lunar New Year every year. To do so, we try to educate our offspring how to remember and preserve Vietnamese traditional custom.…

Vietnam is a country in the Eastern Hemisphere that was influenced by China for over decades. Therefore, the Chinese New Year and the Vietnamese New Year, which we call Tet, have many similarities. It was told that thousand of years ago in a small village of China, there was a monster who came one winter's eve and destroyed the village. The following year, the monster returned and again destroyed the village. Before it could happened a third time, the villagers worked out a plan to scare the monster away. Throughout the whole village, red banners were hung; the color red had long been believed to protect against evil. Firecrackers, drums and gongs were used to celebrate loud noises to scare the monster away. The plan worked and the celebration lasted several days during which people visited with each other, exchanged gifts, danced, and ate tasty food. That was how the New Year got started.…

Because Da Lat has Nuclear Research Reactor. In this trip, I had the opportunity to see Da Lat city and Da Lat is very beautiful, very nice. Dalat is a “miniature Paris” in the tropics that attracted visitors with wonderful landscapes and historical relics. Dalat is most impressive as a city of flowers. When I came to Da Lat, the first day I walk around Xuan Huong Lake and sightseeing. Xuan Huong is a big lake in Dalat City. It is a very beautiful lake and nearby the lake there are green meadows and flower gardens. The road round Xuan Huong Lake is fully surrounded by pine-tree shadows, sometimes running straight, or curved. The next day, I visited Dalat Flower Garden. Now, the garden has the biggest selection of flowers in Dalat with hundreds kinds of flowers. It’s famous flower with two typical flowers: hydrangea (Vietnamese: cẩm tú cầu) and golden everlasting (Vietnamese: hoa bất tử). On Sun day, I went Mong Mo Hill. Hill of Mong Mo is Dragon Lake resort is located on a hill in the northeast city of Da Lat. Mong Mo Hill Theme park attracts visitors by its beauty of nature; pine-tree hills. It had ever been the place for lovers dating. By Mong Mo Hill resort, I visited the orchid gardens, plants, natural beings, artificial waterfalls, ancient Vietnamese houses, poet garden of Han Mac Tu, the statue of composer Trinh Cong Son, national cultural villages, natural stone pavilions and alien exhibition… so I took many many picture in there. Next, I visited Peak LangBiang. Peak LangBiang is located at an altitude of 2169 m above sea level. When I come there, I rent a taxi and went to Lang Biang Pick. I saw pine trees on either side of the road and the road was very difficul to go. when I up to the top of the mountain. I meet two person. Legend says that the name Lang Biang was…
