Importance of Healthy Eating
I. The first factor to consider when deciding to eat right and exercise is the benefits. a. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a healthy diet means eating lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products and lean meats and minimizing the consumption of cholesterol, sodium, sugar and saturated fat. In conjunction with regular exercise, a healthy diet can i. reduce your risk of: * Heart disease. * osteoporosis * Type-2 diabetes * High blood pressure * Some cancers ii. Studies have proven that getting healthier by leading a healthy lifestyle will boost your energy levels, improve your mood, and result in weight loss. Those are only a few examples, the sky is your limit!

II. The second factor when deciding to eat right and exercise is how to incorporate healthy eating and exercise into your daily routine. b. Many people think it is a tedious task to incorporate new healthy eating and fitness habits however in an article featured in the American Academy of Head and Neck Surgery, helpful tips are included such as: iii. Exercise: * Incorporate physical activity into your day (walk to the office or store, take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk or jog at lunch time, etc.) * Make leisure time active – garden, walk, ride a bike with family and friends, participate in an exercise class, join in a sports activity. * Make your activity enjoyable – listen to music, include family and friends, etc. * Start out slowly and build up activity gradually over a period of months. This will help avoid soreness and injury. * Try to accumulate 30 minutes or more of moderate-intensity cardiovascular activity each day. iv. Healthier eating: * Eat smaller meals 3-5 times per day. * Eat nutrient dense foods such as whole grains, lean proteins,
