Urinary excretion of an unchanged salicylate accounts for 10% of the full elimination of the salicylate. Elimination of a salicylate is the result of glomerular filtration, active proximal tubular secretion through the organic acid transporters and passive tubular reabsorption. Urinary elimination is clearly pH dependent and as the urinary pH rises from 5 to 8. The amount of free ionised salicylate eliminated is increased from 3% of the total salicylate dose to over 80%, due…

The purpose of this paper is to provide information about the drugs Alcohol, Aspirin, Lidocaine, Morphine, Ketamine and succinylcholine. It’s important to understand what they are, what they do, how they are broken down in the body (physically and chemically) and what diseases they can either treat or cause. Certain drugs do certain things. Alcohol can lower inhibitions while Morphine can completely take away pain for hours at a time. I briefly explain these above drugs and give details about each.…

There are many aspects of being an exercise physiology major. The field of exercise physiology has always interested me, but I was never sure about what career path I would choose. This year has really given me a better understanding of what path I would like to pursue. I really wanted to be an occupational therapist, but shortly after decided that I wanted to be a physical therapist. According to Writing, the annual salary for a physical therapist is in a range from $70,000-$100,000 (2010). I wanted a career that would keep me stable financially and this had that benefit. I also thought since I enjoy interacting with the public and seemed to have an interest in the rehabilitation process that this would be a perfect fit for me. However, this year I finally discovered that I did not want to do either of these careers. I want to attend graduate school and obtain a masters degree in exercise physiology or kinesiology. I came to this conclusion after taking advice from my professors. I realized that this career path offered many benefits like summers, weekends, and holidays off from school.…
