1. Who among the characters in the story you appreciate most? Why? What trait/quality/characteristics you want to this character? Why?
For my opinion, I think I appreciate Maria most. Because she accepted and respected Leon for what he really is. She didn’t care what Leon’s life back in Nagrebcan. She was a supportive and a loving wife to Leon. She was so endearing and kind-hearted lady. She was very keen to meet Leon’s family.
The fact that the rural is different from the city can be somewhat discouraging but the closer hey get to the house, Maria still manages to overcome any trials. She admits for having some fear, but she also shows clearly it

On the surface, Patria is portrayed as the most mundane of the Mirabal sisters because she is very religious and family-oriented character. However, Alvarez uses these characteristics and emphasizes on the events that led up to her loss of faith in order to shape her motivations for joining the revolution. In the beginning of the novel, Patria had no interest in being part of the revolution. However, her views change when surprise invasion when she was on a religious retreat. During the explosions, Patria witnesses a traumatic event when she looks out the window and witnesses the death of a young boy. She relates to this boy as if he were her own son and the terrible scene had a profound impact on her. After this traumatic event, Patria began to doubt God’s ability to protect her and her family. In her narration, she says, “I'm not going to sit back and watch my babies die, Lord, even if that's what You in Your great wisdom decide” (Alvarez 162). This event had a compelling effect on this character in two aspects. In one aspect, since Alvarez emphasized on Patria loss of faith, she was able to to transform the character, Patria from an ordinary, religious woman into a strong member of the revolution. In another aspect, by highlighting this traumatic event in Patria’s life, Alvarez was able to create depth in…

In conclusion, Maria and Viola-Cesario are worthy of the audience’s respect because they are individualists and talented, however, Olivia does not deserve the audience’s respect because she portrays fickle emotions. Firstly, Maria’s individuality proves to the audience, that a woman can accomplish anything. Secondly, Viola-Cesario’s skillful actions emphasize the idea of her being a very talented female character. Thirdly, Olivia’s fickle emotions hide the beauty of true love. Cleofilas Engriqueta DeLeon Hernandez is the protagonist, the story is centered on her and how she handles life in a broken and abusive marriage. I get the impression that she is fairly young because Cisneros used the word chores to describe her duties around the house she would never return to after saying her vows to Juan Pedro Martinez Sanchez. Cisneros wrote, “…dream of returning to the chores that never ended, six good-for-nothing brothers, and one old man’s complaint” (246). This passage also shows a stereotype of some Spanish households without a wife or mother, the eldest female of the house has to assume that role. Cleofilas has to wear more than one hat; she can’t just be a daughter or sister.…
