Hospitality
Samantha Ashley Fong Wilson---------------------HTM-150-Tuesdays 6:30pm-8:30pm

*In your own words, write at least 2 paragraphs explaining just one of the "Seven Deadly Sins of Service"

COLDNESS
Hospitality itself is a huge industry now a day and it is vital to have good customer service, this is what hospitality is all about, making people feel welcome with the product you are offering and surpassing their needs, coldness is a big sin in this industry, it means to not be affectionate or friendly, and not be a very enthusiastic person. The consequences of being a cold person in the hospitality industry is that you are basically not being hospitable to your clients at all, if they don’t feel warmth or friendliness by walking in to a hotel, cruise ship, restaurants, etc. the possibility of them coming back is very low.
There are various hotels that give special trainings to all their employees about greeting a customer and making them feel happy. The Ritz-Carlton motto states “We are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen”, I personally think this is a fabulous motto, it not only means you are serving your guests but you are actually serving each other as well and creating exceptional memories for everyone. If you have always been a friendly person and don’t have any problem communicating with people, coldness may not be your problem but you still have to put an extra effort to make your guests remember you and your

However, service members are held to a higher standard. We are the line that protects this country and we are the defense against the storm. Without us, this country would not exist and could not exist. And for that, I have to follow the orders and instructions given by anyone appointed over me. The fact that I didn’t get to an appointment on time showed lack of accountability on my part, a lack of discipline to follow orders I was given and a lack of respect to those who are appointed over me as a leader.…

In losing accountability of my meal card, I have shown a general disregard for the Army Values of Duty and Respect, as well as violated several points of the Soldier’s Creed. In the Army Values, Duty is defined as a soldier’s ability and devotion to “fulfill your obligations” and resisting the temptations to take “shortcuts” that might undermine the final product.…

Today I was task with writing an essay on the importance of being on time at your place of duty. I thought about what I could write about and this is what I came up with. It made me think back to one of my seven army values; Duty. What is my duty? It is my duty to show up at my station of assignment on time if not even a little early. Reasons for this would be that the NCO would know that all personnel are present and ready for the day. I know that my inability to be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, and with the right attitude reflected poorly on my leadership which is something that I never wanted to happen. I also know that I showed a lack of leadership, selfless service, and responsibility, which are three of my army values. I know that my inability to leadership could later affect a promotion and it affects the trust that my leadership has towards me. I know in order to be a successful soldier I must show leadership qualities at all times. I know by me not showing up for work made it look like I don’t have selfless service. I know that I must put my nations, my units, and my battle buddies needs before my own in order to accomplish the mission successfully and smoothly. I know that when I failed to show up for duty that I not only showed lack of responsibility but also a lack of discipline. So in conclusion I have learned that the account of people is very high because if one person is gone it could mess up and crew or any team that plays a big role into deployment. I never understood what the role was till my first deployment but you have to always be prepared for the worst in everything that you do. I have to realize that it’s not just me that’s here it’s a whole brigade that makes moves and make things happen. Like I know that I should have been on time and that I should have showed up. So yes I take the fault for that but I still see that in the long...…

Dubai’s vision is to establish a world-class food safety system that helps provide safe food to the residents and the several millions that visit the Emirate each year. We envision a system that ensures the highest standards of food safety - from the port to the plate. We would like the system to be so comprehensive and appealing that others are encouraged to use it as a model. Our vision will become a reality only when the government, food industry, service providers, educational and research organisations and the consumers collectively commit to work together and apply sound principles of food safety based on science and research. We have begun the process by promoting a positive food safety culture among food establishments in the Emirate, by urging the management to be responsible and accountable through our proprietary Person In-Charge (PIC) program, which we introduced in 2010. The responsibility is not only with the PIC but also with other food handlers in the establishments, their owners, regulators and also the consumers. In other words, it must be stressed that food safety is a shared responsibility involving all the residents of the Emirate. Through the Food Code, we are now building on the foundations laid by the PIC and other regulatory programs, which arm them with the necessary knowledge about the systems and processes needed to ensure an effective food safety culture. An integrated approach is necessary to ensure food safety from the place of primary production up to the point of consumption. The Food Control Department of Dubai Municipality will ensure that regulatory programs are science- and risk-based as far as possible. The Food Code is designed to assist the Person In-Charge (PICs) at food establishments to understand their obligations and to carry out operations as per the requirement. The Food Code has been developed also to help the food industry and the law-enforcement officers…
