High School Vs Middle School Essay
I know there's a big difference between high school and middle school. There are more students and teachers in high school. There are also more classes and the classes are longer. A lot of people say that high school is harder than middle school, which it is not, neither of them are hard, it’s only hard if you make it hard. One can say that it is hard physically because of how big the high school is and you might get lost trying to find your classes, its like a big maze luckily you have five minutes to get to each class. but it shouldn't be hard mentally, only if you make it hard. You should know all the material if you payed attention and listened in middle school because its basically the same just a different level and its more to it and …show more content…
I am a sophomore (a tenth grader). When I was in eighth grade the teachers used to tell me all the same things that they tell the eight graders now. I went to Carver Middle School, so they used to label us as bad kids and stuff like that. But we weren’t bad as people say we were, we were actually smart. We just had a few really bad kids. As I transitioned from eighth grade to the ninth grade I was scared like I was nervous and everything. I was so scared and nervous because of how big it was and how many students it was going to be and basically because of how the middle school teachers described it. When it was time to go to orientation at the high school I was still scared but I was also excited. As we sat in orientation in the gym we met our ninth grade principal Mrs.Kidd. A lot of students say that she is mean and crazy. So when we were sitting in orientation she was going over rules and all that stuff, and some girls were talking and laughing like two or three of them and Mrs.Kidd seen them and heard them, and she pointed them out and told them to leave and get out and that they was going to be suspended on the first day of school. That’s when everybody realized and experienced how mean she was. Then at orientation we got to take a tour around the school. As we were going around the school looking for our lockers and classes everybody was getting lost, but student council helped us find where stuff

According to a study conducted by EducationNext, “moving to middle school leads to a substantial drop in student test scores in the first year of the transition, and the relative achievement of middle-school students continues to decline in the subsequent years they spend in such schools.” One aspect of the educational system that I think can be vastly improved is middle school. Although middle schoolers are faced with numerous challenges, the middle school curriculum does not allow students to explore their interests and more importantly, doesn't challenge students enough. In middle school, there is not a lot of advanced coursework that students can complete. This is why I believe that middle school students should have the opportunity to take a more strenuous curriculum by allowing them to take high school classes, as this system will give students the curriculum that they need to succeed and it will give them an abundance of time to explore their interests.…

Looking back at the way my life has been so far I am both surprised and proud of myself for continuing to push myself to success. Using the fact that I am the child of two high school drop outs as the fuel to my fire. I will be the first in my family to graduate, setting a good example for my two younger sisters. I am the only child of my Father, and my Mother’s oldest daughter. After five years of being raised by a single mother, and having the support of our church, my mother got married and the ability to have one place I called ‘home’ was ruined. My family moved every year, sometimes two times a year since I was roughly five. I have attended a total of fourteen schools, always being ‘the new kid’… knowing I would never have those childhood friends to go back to. I managed to stay positive and keep my grades up, earning me a spot in the Cambridge program at North Marion Middle School, a program that offered Eleventh and Twelfth grade classes while you were in Eighth grade. Later, while my mother and her husband were going through a horrible divorce, my mother, my sisters, and I relocated to Immokalee Florida, where we have been living for the past two years, the longest I’ve ever lived anywhere. During the process of divorce, my stepfather filed for immediate removal of the minor children (my sisters) and was granted custody of my two sisters, five hours north of Immokalee.…

Middle school is really different from Elementary school in an exciting way. You don’t stay in one classroom until lunch or until the end of class. Your teacher doesn’t lead you from one classroom to the other; you travel yourself! You have classes like Art, Technology, and Gym longer! In Art you draw, paint, and mold clay. In Technology, you learn about new technology related information and can play on computers! In Gym, you play sports, for example, Basketball, Kickball, and Badminton. Science, Math, Social Studies, and ELA are all taught by different teachers, not by one teacher who you…

Freshman year is a year full of firsts. First year of high school, first homecoming dance, first football game, and for me, my first C on an English paper. I knew I was not a spectacular writer, but I was still taken aback. What would my parents think? I had never brought home a C in my entire schooling career. This low score was unexpected, even for my teacher, Mrs. Chen, as she informed us many of her students did poorly and offered after school tutoring for help. Concerned about my grade, I decided to attend the tutoring session. The paper was an analysis on a movie we watched in class, and I was not familiar with how to write an analysis yet. Together, we read my paper sentence by sentence, pointing out each mistake. She explained to me how I had to be more specific, as general statements do not count as analysis. I needed to include more specific details from the movie to support my theme. The skills she taught me that day have carried on with me, all the way up to my senior year.…
