With my goodwill, sir, [no] one interest in the country [should be] sacrificed by the management of taxation to another. . . . The agriculturalists bear the whole brunt of the war and taxation, and remain poor, while the others run in the ring of pleasure, and fatten upon them.

The period between 1815 and 1825 was inaccurately dubbed the “Era of Good Feelings.” Despite the relatively low political opposition and boom of westward expansion and economy, bigger problems such as the economic bust as well as the differing beliefs of northern and southern states threatened the strength and unity of the nation during this time. After the war of 1812, the surge of nationalistic feelings took place, but, simultaneously, there were underlying forces of sectionalism.…

The period after the War of 1812 is historically labeled as the “Era of Good Feelings”, and, while this label was accurate, culturally, it proved to be false in the economic and social aspects of American life; furthermore, the politics of 1815 to 1825 initially resembled an “Era of Good Feelings” but, as time progressed, this label became inaccurate. Therefore, the “Era of Good Feelings” only applies to the rise of cultural nationalism and not the social, political, and economic realities of 1815 to 1825. This period in time consisted of a stark rise in nationalism and pride in the American identity, but also of the continual growth of social, economic, and political sectional issues. Nationalism, with its emphasis on pride in the country…

This photograph was taken by Mike Wells on April 1980. It was taken in the driest region of Uganda, the Karamoja district during the 1980 famine that wiped out twenty-one percent of the population. The photograph has a hand of a missionary holding the hand of a starving child; its purpose is to show the audience how severe the famine is in Uganda by contrasting the two hands. I believe that the target audience would be the general population because if the purpose of the photo is to inform the audience about how severe the famine in Uganda is, then why not inform everyone? Wells tried to get it published in a magazine, after five months the magazine didn 't publish the photo but instead they entered it in a contest. The photo then won the World Press Photo Award. Wells didn 't like the idea of winning an award with a photograph about a starving people.…

Cognitive development is a field of study in neuroscience and psychology focusing on a child's development in terms of information processing, conceptual resources, perceptual skill, language learning, and other aspects of brain development and cognitive psychology compared to an adult's point of view. In other words, cognitive development is the emergence of the ability to think and understand. [1] A large portion of research has gone into understanding how a child imagines the world. Jean Piaget was a major force in the discovering of this field study, forming his "theory of cognitive development". Piaget had four stages of cognitive development which consisted of the following : Sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational.[2] Many of his theoretical claims have since fallen out of favor. However, his description of the tendencies of cognitive development (e.g., that it moves from being dependent on actions and perception in infancy to understanding of the more observable aspects of reality in childhood to capturing the underlying abstract rules and principles in adolescence) is generally still accepted today. Besides, many of the phenomena that he discovered, such as object permanence in infancy and the conservations in school age children, attract the interest of current researchers. In recent years, alternative models have been advanced, including the neo-Piagetian theories of cognitive development, which aim to integrate Piaget's ideas that stood the test of time with more recent theorizing and methods in developmental and cognitive science.…
