Greed In Macbeth
The play Macbeth is about a man who meets three witches who tell him about his future. He doesn’t really like what they tell him, so he kills people who get in his way of becoming King. His actions end up catching up with him which results in his death which was a tragedy. Lady Macbeth is responsible for the tragedy of Macbeth because she was convincing, manipulative, and greedy.
Lady Macbeth is responsible for the tragedy of Macbeth because she convinced Macbeth to kill Duncan so he could become King. In act 1 scene 7, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth were talking about the plan to kill Duncan and Macbeth was starting to back out. In the text, Lady Macbeth says, Macbeth is, “Like the poor cat” (1.7). In that line Lady Macbeth is comparing Macbeth

Lady Macbeth’s greedy ways played a major role in the development of the tragedy of Macbeth. Lady Macbeth was greedy for power; she was greedy for her place on the throne. In the text, she says, “Hie thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thine ear And chastise with the valor of my tongue All that impedes thee from the golden round” (1.5). In that line Lady Macbeth basically said let me talk you out of what’s preventing you from going after the crown. That line shows me that Lady Macbeth is so greedy that she wanted to talk to and persuade Macbeth into going after what he wants, which is the spot at …show more content…
Macbeth first made the mistake of listening to his wife about murdering Duncan. However that was just one of his actions that led to his tragedy. Macbeth is responsible for the tragedy of Macbeth because he was overconfident in the witches prophecies. In one of the apparitions, the witches told Macbeth he would not be vanquished until Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane Hill. In the text, the servant told him when he looked towards Birnam, he thought, “the wood began to move” (5.5.37-39). Macbeth called the servant a, “liar and slave” (5.5.40). Macbeth’s overconfidence in apparitions and prophecies led him to his tragedy because he didn’t believe what the servant was telling him.
Even though others think Macbeth caused of the tragedy of Macbeth, I still think Lady Macbeth holds primary responsibility for the tragedy of Macbeth. She holds primary responsibility because she’s one of the people that caused Macbeth to be so ambitious and confident. After Macbeth killed Duncan, he felt guilty. However after his guilt went away, he had no problem setting up the murders of Banquo and Macduff’s wife and family. Lady Macbeth giving Macbeth that push to murder Duncan is why Macbeth felt no remorse when murdering the other

Lady Macbeth is completely at fault for the death and killing of Duncan. First, she poisons Macbeth with evil thoughts of killing Duncan. She threatens his manhood by saying he isn't savage enough to follow through with the act of killing Duncan, which is a big deal especially back then. Second, Macbeth is loyal to the king and the king is loyal to him. Whenever this happens Lady Macbeth would have to convince him otherwise. Also she asks god to”Unsex me here, fill me, from crown to toe, top-ful Of direst cruelty!” meaning make her be able to kill Duncan with all her strength and no hesitation. Lady Macbeth also asks “Make thick my blood”, and “come to my womans breasts, And take my milk for gall” this is basically her asking the gods to…

In conclusion Lady Macbeth is mentally unstable. She longs for power and to become queen. But in the end she cannot handle pressure of murder and guilt on her shoulders. This is why she killed herself. The irony of it is if she didn’t guilt Macbeth into killing Duncan for not taking his chance and being a coward, she wouldn’t have felt guilty about anything at all. Because Duncan would still be alive and none of this would have ever happened. And maybe Lady Macbeth would end up sane in the end if it wasn’t for what she had…

Lady MacBeth is to blame for the tragedy because she convinces & manipulates MacBeth into killing Duncan. She does this by insulting his manhood, to which MacBeth takes great offense to. She does this to feed her hunger for power, all the while she knows that she has the ability to control MacBeth through her words. Also, she knows he’d let her have some control and be queen. This illustrates Lay MacBeth’s motives to lead MacBeth to his eventual downfall. “Yet do I fear thy nature; it is too full of the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way.” (I, v, 16-18)…

For the murder of Duncan, Macbeth should be held accountable for his deeds. A reason to support this claim would be, Macbeth’s heart had already been filled with malicious intent before he even had a conversation with his wife about killing King Duncan. Readers can say that his wife, Lady Macbeth, acted as a sort of trigger that pushed him to the edge. Even though that she is just as guilty as he is, Macbeth should’ve trusted what he was doing was wrong.…

It is hard to blame just one person for the tragic outcome of Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’. We could blame the witches but we could also blame Lady Macbeth or even Macbeth. Macbeth was with his friend (Banquo), when he met three witches that were telling him his destiny. They told him that he was next in line for the throne but they also told Banquo that his kids would take over the throne. Macbeth then realised that he deserve to become king because he was the one going to war and King Duncan didn’t deserve to have the throne (he didn’t fight with his men, he didn’t deserve to be their leader). He then took charge in the situation and did something about it. He became King through killing the people that were in his way of being king forever. His wife, Lady Macbeth took a major part in the role of killing the people and she was encouraging Macbeth to make these crimes. Throughout the play Shakespeare has used dialogue, character construction, construction of the plot and imagery to show who’s to blame for the tragic outcome of Shakespeare’s plays ‘Macbeth’.…

Although Macbeth does take actions that lead to his downfall, I believe that he is not totally responsible for what happens. Although he takes the action that leads to his downfall, he perhaps would not have done this if the witches had not told him that he would be king in Act 1 Scene 3. I believe that it is the witches are more responsible for Macbeth's downfall than he is.

In Act 1, Scene 3, the witches tell Macbeth that he is thane of Glamis, thane of Cawdor and that he "shalt be king hereafter". Immediately after hearing the witches prophesise that he will be king, Macbeth thinks that he must kill the current king to become king himself. I believe that before hearing the witch's prophecies, Macbeth had never in his wildest dreams thought of killing King Duncan to become king himself.

In Act 4, Scene 1, Macbeth meets again with the witches, who tell him through apparitions, "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff. Beware the thane of Fife." In the following scene, we see murderers sent by Macbeth enter Macduff's castle and slaughter both Lady Macduff and her son. The witches are also responsible for this murder, because once again, the witches put ideas in his head.

Although the witches can be held responsible for the murder of King Duncan, Lady Macduff and her son, they cannot be held responsible for the murder of Banquo. The witches only speak of Banquo when Macbeth meets with them for the second time and Act 4, Scene 1, after Banquo has already been killed. This murder is the complete responsibility of Macbeth, because the witches had absolutely nothing to do with it and it was only Macbeth's own suspicions that brought him to have Banquo killed.

If Macbeth had not taken action to fulfill the witch's prophecies, he would probably have been happily living as the thane of Glamis and Cawdor at the end of the play. It could be said that he was responsible for his own downfall. However, Macbeth only took action after hearing the…

To start, Lady Macbeth is one of the most persuasive characters in the play. She uses the tool of manipulation to her advantage to receive personal benefits. As soon as she opens Macbeth's letter where he talks about the three witches’, Lady Macbeths determines that she wants to be the Queen of Scotland and plans to help her husband get the throne. She determines this when she says, “Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be what thou art promis’d.” (1.5.14-19). After this scene it was easy to see how dark hearted Lady Macbeth really was. Though Macbeth is still a good hearted, loyal man, Lady Macbeth will do just about anything to make sure he becomes King and she become Queen. It is obvious at this point that Lady Macbeth is responsible for the death of King duncan and the corruption of Macbeth. Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to kill the King by questioning his manliness, “When you durst do it, you were a man; And, to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man.” (1.7.49-51). Sense Macbeth values his man hood he is easily convinced. If Lady Macbeth had never persuaded him, he most likely wouldn't have killed King Duncan in the first place causing the following string of events to never occur. Lady Macbeth was one of the main causes in her husbands shift from good to…

“Macbeth”, is a play written by William Shakespeare. It is considered the darkest and most powerful tragedies. It was written back in the 1600’s where in that period of time everyone was influenced by temptations. We live in a cruel world where people will do almost anything to gain power and be in charge. The play dramatizes the awful effects produced when evil is chosen as a way to fulfil the ambition for power. Macbeth was pressured by his wife Lady Macbeth. This led him to the masterly murder of the King Duncan which made him take the throne for himself. There are debates regarding who was mostly responsible for the death of King Duncan. Some say it was Lady Macbeth’s fault, others think it is Macbeth’s fault. In the play we collected evidence which supported the fact that Macbeth himself was more responsible for the death of King Duncan more than his evil wife. Macbeth was the one who committed the murder. Also, even though he was pressured by his wife he is still responsible for his own actions. Lastly Macbeth already liked the idea of killing king Duncan before Lady Macbeth knew about the prophecy.…

Due to the demonstration of Lady Macbeth’s manipulative, depriving, and deceitful traits it is obvious that she was the person to blame. If Lady Macbeth had not provoked Macbeth he would not have killed Duncan. Some may say Macbeth is his own person and he did not have to listen to the things Lady Macbeth said. It was obvious that her opinion meant a lot to him, and he did not the idea of her emasculating him. Which is why I feel Lady Macbeth played the biggest role in the death of…
