Four Day School Week Research Paper
Would you classify yourself as a “Monday-Hater”? A vast majority of students immensely detest Monday because it signifies the end of a relaxing weekend and the beginning of another stressful, busy week. However, if a four day school week was implemented then Monday could be tagged on to the weekend and everyone would become “Tuesday-Haters”. Woodbury High School (WHS) would benefit from a switch to a four day school week because it would save District 833 money, increase student attendance, and decrease the amount of stress in students. On the other hand, Critics believe that students should be spending more days in school rather than fewer. In fact, in the United States of America many states require school to be in session for a minimum of 180 days, which is almost three weeks less than other developed countries in Europe and Asia. 1). In the majority of species, a small yet motile sperm fertilizes a much larger but also immobile egg to create a zygote. This zygote must then undergo cleavage. In humans, cleavage occurs about 24 hours after the forming of a zygote. Cleavage is a succession of mitotic cell divisions without cell growth between division cycles. There is close to no cell growth because during cleavage, the embryonic cells undergo the S and M phases of the cell cycle but practically avoid the G1 and G2 phases. Thus, the embryo does not increase in cytoplasmic material or enlarge but merely partitions its zygote into smaller blastomeres. The first five to seven divisions produce a…

Changing the five day school week has been argued for and against due the controversy as to whether or not it would actually be beneficial to students and teachers. When approaching the idea, many people would like to believe that five day school weeks are the most efficient and productive way to educate our youth. What is often overlooked, however, is that it is causing students to dread school more than they already do, and lessen their willingness to be in or attentive at school. Not only this, but many teachers easily get behind on either grading or lesson planning, while the school could actually save money when switching to this schedule. By refreshing the way the school schedule has previously been, we can address the issue of exhausted students who don 't truly learn anything, teachers who are overwhelmed with work and the economic questions within America 's schools. Providing both students and teachers with a more equal week of break and school time by having Wednesdays off will make students more willing to attend school, give the teachers time to furnish their lesson plans and give the school a break in costs.…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

P.O, senators and judge, I stand as Senator Ortega to keep start times the same for the sake of everyone . School start times will cause a burden in many situations. Moving school start times later will result in increased costs to school systems and unacceptable disruption to many families. Advocates — and editorial boards — may choose to minimize or ignore these impacts, but local school boards cannot. School boards are responsible for balancing competing priorities in the face of limited resources, and should consider return on investment before embarking on such changes. The AAP’s Adolescent Sleep Working Group reviewed studies involving inadequate sleep in teens. Researchers analyzed the harmful effects sleep deprivation—anything less…

Lashunda- I like your thought process, even though there is little research on this topic, it doesn’t promote a four or five day week one way or another. When it comes to childcare concerns, it may be easier for parents to find a sitter one day a week rather than a large period of time over the summer. Anytime changes are implemented there is always a period of uncertainty, I too would be willing to try a schedule change if it might be better for our students.…

Some Sumer activities that I like to do or achieve for the school break are having fun with my friends and family and play. On really hot days we go down to the lake and play in the water or go fishing. I also like to play with my dog and go for walks with her if I'm not dragging her all the way there and back. Sometimes I do work with my dad most of the times it involves a lot of elbow grease. I love to do fun activities with my mom that does relate a little work, at the end she gets us a treat. On the days I'm not doing anything I go out with friends or they come to my house, and if I'm good we go to get air, other wise, we just watch movies and relax. On other days when we are in the garden I like to swim, maybe even play with the sprinklers and bother my brothers.…
