Written Communication – this involves any type of interaction between people using the written word. It is usually a very formal method of communication and is used both internally and externally by the business. Internally between staff written communication is very common in all businesses, including Thorpe Park, some examples of internal written communication would be employee contracts, memos, reports, employee manuals, emails and many more. Also written communication would be used to get in touch with other businesses for their business-to-business relationships, which might include sponsors of the park, food chains and suppliers. The company prides itself of the satisfaction of not only the guests, but also their employees. Throughout the entire park in each location, there are many suggestion boxes and also “near misses”. A near miss is a card a cast member can write about an accident that almost occurred. The point of this card is for management to see what is and what is not working in an area, in order for them to improve the working situation. This is the idea of upward communication because it is feedback and suggestions that can be reported to higher management. In my area, the use of horizontal communication is present when cast members are using each others knowledge or training for problem solving, task coordination, or conflict…

Neener’s orders or decisions to his managers and employees are example of downward communication. The communication between his managers, supervisors, and employees is lateral communication. Furthermore, Neener and his employees use oral and written communication. Meetings are oral communication and email or text are written communication. In Neener’s organization, oral and downward communication is the most common way people use. Formal communication involves the mainline of operational communication within an organization. The communication within this channel is what keeps business flowing. The communication may move upward in the chain of command, downward in the chain of command, or laterally within departments. The communication may be in the form of a report, email, memorandum, intranet, newsletter, or bulletin boards. Informal communications are more personal and do not contribute so much to effective business progression. Managers are unable to control informal communications. Informal communication involves instant messaging, verbal communication, or text messaging. It may be best to use informal communication in training and development, informal meetings, or discussion among team members. In other words, if it does not need a manager’s insight or attention, make it an informal communication. Formal communications are best when addressing complex issues that call for a manager’s attention, changes affecting business practices, and sharing news involving the business in any way. I have personally seen informal and formal communication used incorrectly on both ends. It is important to know when it is appropriate to use each because both parties are affected. The sender can also be penalized for using the incorrect means of communication no matter what information is shared. Using the correct form of communication is important and is definitely a professional reflection. You can either deprive others of information or violate others because of how the information was shared.…

The doctor will normally start with a greeting such as ‘good morning’ or ‘good afternoon’ before starting the conversation with the service user, this just mean that the doctor is being formal, professional and respectful toward the service…
