Spread formation is pretty self-explanatory it is the auto of taking the defense and spreading them across the field. By doing this you can dictate to the defense what you want them to because they have to respect all the receivers spread across the field (Destro 2009). Passing the ball is a lot of moe than just throwing the ball to the receiver. To successively pass against a defense you have to know what type of coverage they are in and how to find the weaknesses to throw the ball there. When the quarterback come up to the line of scrimmage he must go through his pre-snap reads to help determine where the ball might go. once he recognizes the coverage he must know where the weaknesses are and then read the key to check where to throw the football.
