Football Genius
The book I read is called Football Genius by Tim Green. This book was not a Newberry winner but I think it should have been. The main character of this book is named Troy, and he lives in Atlanta, Georgia. His main goal is to help the Falcons go all the way to the Super Bowl this year. One day my mom brought this book home for me to read on my free time and it ended up being the best book I’ve ever read. The main character is named Troy. Troy can predict the plays in any football game, if you ask me that is pretty amazing. Some of Troy’s good qualities are that he is very athletic, and a very smart boy. He plays on a football team and is the best quarterback in the league. He also got all A’s on his report card. One of Troy’s bad qualities is that he never takes no for an answer. After the NFL star almost gets him arrested for coming to his home after he told him to stay away. Troy still pushes his door open just to prove that he can really predict the plays while they watched Monday night football on TV. One of the problems that Troy had was failing to show coach Krock his talent. He finally figured out that he could not show the coach because the film that they were watching was of a preseason game. So when he got another chance he proved the coach wrong. The other problem that Troy faced was standing up to Jamie and trying to prove that his mom really did work for the falcons. Then one day he got a real Falcons football from his mom to prove it to Jamie. This story took place in Atlanta, Georgia in 2007. Troy lives in a small house in the woods. He has a very long dirt drive way. The house is surrounded by pine trees and he can always smell them. He also goes to the Georgia dome to watch the falcons play almost every Sunday. This was a great book. It might have been the best book that I’ve ever read. I think that this was pretty realistic but I’m not sure that it is possible that anyone could predict every play in a football game. I would definitely

Yes, I would recommend this book to a friend because it was a very touching story. For example, Hope's father dying really showed how much she loved him. This book was easy to understand and to comprehend. The story was good for a young reader, not a more advanced reader. The story was a relatable vibe that a young athlete would understand. I would one hundred percent recommend this book to an athlete.…

Book Review: Friday Night Lights takes place in 1998 when H.G. Bissinger a journalist decided to follow a football team in Texas. He finally chose Permian High which has a population of over 90,000 people. H.G. Bissinger soon finds out that football for the Panthers wasn’t ordinary. Football was life for the players, and reasonably so, they had won the past five state championships in a row. In my mind Friday Night Lights focuses on three major keys. It shows the dreams of the players, they pressure the athletes had with the community and their family, and also the commitment from the school. In the book, you notice how some dreams had been crushed, the player that shows it the most it Booby Miles, a running back who was set to have an outstanding…

What makes these novels so great is that one does not need to be a football fan to enjoy the novels. The novels have something for nearly everyone with their humor and comedy parts to their adventure parts. Troy and Ty are the lead characters in the series who have special talents that they use in their sporting endeavors. I bet you don’t know a twelve year old that can predict game winning football plays, well now you do. Troy is the Atlanta Falcons best player, even though he isn’t actually a player he can think like one, he knows the right calls to play at the right time, and that can even lead his own team to victory and possibly make it to the NFL someday too. That is, if a reporter with a history doesn’t ruin it for him. This is an essay showing determination and kindness throughout the book and in real life today.…

I chose the novel “Looking for Alaska” by John Green, because I already read a reading sample in my English lessons in Germany from this book and I really liked the style of writing the author used. I also chose this novel, because many of my friends said it was a good book and worth reading, besides the fact, that the book is well-known for some of its quotes (“If people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane”) and the awards it won (Michael L. Printz Award). The author is also known for his book “The fault in our stars”, which is another one of his four books.…

    Facing the Giants Review

A variation on the standard football movie plot, Facing the Giants takes place in a Christian high school, where coach Grant Taylor is trying to keep the school's football program alive. The team isn't winning, the players are apathetic, and some of the parents are trying to have Grant replaced. When we first see him go home to his wife, we learn that Grant's also having problems off the field, the film begins stacking the odds so high against Grant that it flirts with outright melodrama, his car won't start, his home is in a state of disrepair, he and Brooke can't conceive, money is running out, and most folks just plain don't like him.…
