Flowers For Algernon Movie Analysis
Flowers for Algernon and Charly have many differences and similarities, but they both portray the same idea of a man going through surgery and being smart afterwards. The man then realizes it isn't permanent. Although, the movie has a different ending than the story. To begin with, the man is named Charlie. He knows he is not that smart, but still he is determined to learn and practice how to spell, read, and write well with no mistakes. They first test Charlie with ink blots …show more content…
Charlie is also shown rejecting Miss Kinnian's question if he was to marry her. Some similarities include the obvious same main idea and characters, though one doctor is male and one is female in the movie. Another would be the death of Algernon and the tests with Charlie.
Both had Charlie go through surgery and getting smarter, then dumber. To conclude, both the story and the book share many events, characters, and ideas, they also show differences from one another. The movie had the characters of a different gender than what you would expect when reading the story first. The movie director added in extra scenes that help portray the main story. Though the main idea of both were well thought out, there could have been a part in the movie that showed an alternative ending than the book, such as the operation becoming permanent or Charlie marrying Miss
