Like many children, I’ve had my fair share of ideas on who I wanted to be, what I wanted to do, and how I imagined my life to transpire when I “grew up”. A few ideas that popped into my head include but were certainly not limited to: a vet, teacher, doctor, nurse, chef, lawyer, actress, ballerina (which quickly faded due to my lack of interest in actually learning ballet), and many, many more. As much as these topics had intrigued me at one point or another, fashion had always seemed to be the interest I went back to after all of my other aspirations faded.…

In the future, I would like to pursue a Fashion Merchandising and Product Development degree at Bowling Green State University. I hope to expand my knowledge in Fashion Merchandising with the goal of working in fashion or cosmetics. In addition, I would either take a minor in marketing or go to New York and take some classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I plan to work hard…

Growing up and living a fast-paced, glamorous life seems ideal to any teenage girl. This is true for me. By the time I reach the age of twenty-five, I aspire to be a fashion merchandiser in a major city such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Manhattan, or DC. Large cities such as those usually have a large focus on fashion. The job of a fashion merchandiser is to buy clothing for clothing stores. These buyers need to have a fine understanding of business, the economy, marketing, and of course fashion. In order to obtain my goals there are steps I need to take. These steps include: finishing high school, getting accepted to and completing college, obtaining a career, and getting acclimated in which ever city I choose to work. (A. Walker, personal interview, March 17, 2013) Reaching these goals is important to me because without meeting these goals I could never have my dream job.…

For my action plan, I am going to do a fashion show in my community. I haven’t fully decided on what the theme of my fashion show will be. I also would like to interview different teenagers and ask questions based on my topic. I would like to see what they think about fashion affecting them from their point of view also. Another idea I had for my action plan is to join Pittsburgh Youth Invasion. It is an program at The Andy Warhol Museum that holds fashion workshops to attend. During the workshop you can come up with your own design and learn how to make it. At the end of the workshop there will be a fashion show that will allow you to model your design.…
