Explain the importance of defining the objectives, scope and success criteria of the decisions to be taken
To be able to make accurate decisions, the objective needs to be clear otherwise the outcome may not be as required. The scope is similar in the fact that it should outline what the decision is to be made in regards to. It could be a statement in regards to a number of objectives. The success criteria could be a number of outcomes that need to be achieved. Without any of these you won’t know what it is that you need to make a decision on and you won’t know how to make an effective decision.

If it was from a system, check how accurate the system is. How accurate is the gathering of the information? It would be ideal to do some form of risk assessment in regards to the information. If it was a person, can you get them to sign a statement stating the information is correct as to their knowledge? It may be that you have to investigate the source of information and assess how accurate it is.
Explain how to address issues that hamper the achievement of targets and quality standards
This is dependant on the decision that needs to be made. You need to gather as much evidence as you can in regards to why you think something will hamper targets/quality standards. This way you will have evidence to back up anything that you address. Ideally, as a manager if you have anything that hampers the above, you need to investigate what is needed to stop any decision from hampering the achievement of targets and quality standards. It may be useful to ask for peer advice or hold a team meeting to discuss further before any need to escalate the matter.
