Essay On National Honor Society
For a girl who is use to achieving at everything she does, it was a great astonishment when I heard I didn’t make it into National Honors Society. I have never felt such like a failure before. When I first started high school as a freshman I have heard of National Honors Society because my brother was in it so I wanted to be in it as well. At my high school you can only be invited into it as a junior. To be invited into it you must have had a 3.5 GPA or higher.
When I got pulled out of class with a couple other classmates I had thought I did something wrong but I looked at all the students that got called out and they were really good students. I was excited but nervous because only a certain amount of people get accepted. I waited three weeks to get the letter in the mail. The day I got it, I was so scared. I opened it up and the letter had read that I didn’t get accepted because I had not enough community service hours and I was not a good leader in their eyes. I was so upset but it made me realize that I had things to work on. Not getting accepted to National Honors Society was a big disappointment to me but I had to overcome this failure. I began to work harder at school to maintain my GPA. I realized that to become a leader you have to actually act on things. You just can’t sit back and expect to be a leader. I began to work on my community service hours by volunteering at church events. I took on more responsibilities and was open to learning different things because great leaders are open to new things. Now, here I am as a senior in high school, I just got pulled out into the hallway thinking I was in trouble but I have been ask to apply for National Honors Society again. This was my second chance. I had the opportunity to re apply myself in a different way to become a member. I was determined not to fail this time. I made sure my application was the best of the best and that I was worth one of those spots as a
