The American flag has a interesting history and it's design was revised several times.
It was born on June 14, 1777 in Philadelphia and since then, has been the national flag for the United States of America. The American flag has it's own public law - Public Law 829 - outlining the proper use and display for all occasions and situations. While many respect and appreciate the symbolic meaning behind the American flag, others disregard the Public Law surrounding the flag and representation it holds to our country. The American flag is a representation of our country, unified and as a whole. It stands as a representation of the collective American population and freedoms we are provided by our country. The misunderstanding of the symbolism behind our American flag has lead people to mistreat and disrespect it's physical form by burning, stomping, spitting, wiping their privates on, and destroying
it. During these times of desercration and disrepect of the American flag, it is during a protest of our government and the rules that are deemed unsatisfatory to the specfic individual. The American flag itself does not represent our government, but our nation as a whole and the people that sacrificed their lives to protect our freedoms. It's that ignorance and that pushes people to do extreme things to drive their political position into the eyes of the unaware. The blind leading the blind in an effort to make everyone aware of something they are not happy with. The act of desercrating the American flag is being used to shock tool rather than a symbolic gesture to a corrupt government.
