-Nouvelle forme, nouveau packaging

Objectif : faire reculer le potage Home made

With reference to Ageism Negative and Positive by Erdman B. Palmore page 4 Robert Butler, the director of the national institute on Aging has introduced the term ‘ageism” in 1969. He called it another form of bigotry and noted it is similar to sexism and racism. His definition is and I quote’ process of systematic stereotyping and discrimination against people because they are old (p.35, 1995). Webster dictionary (1994) defines it as prejudice, discrimination against a particular group especially the elderly. Three examples of ageism that I have personally witnessed are forced retirement and abuse of the elderly and the one that I have committed is saying aloud that they have no need for sexual satisfaction. These instances are damaging to…

Structured in twelve chapters, each representing a month of the year, Esquivel has created an entrancing love story that is sprinkled with culinary enchantments around every corner. Each chapter is prefaced with a recipe that is relevant to the progression of the novel, not to mention the many cooking tid-bits thrown in throughout each chapter. The preparation of food is clearly very important to the culture being represented. Tita, the main character and protagonist, was born in the kitchen and possesses all the superior traits of a culinary expert. She is also blessed (or cursed) with the ability to inject her emotions in to the food she cooks, in turn, infecting all those who consume the food with that emotion. In one section of the novel, Tita makes Quail, in Rose Petal Sauce, to express her passion for her sister, Rasaura’s, husband, Pedro, who she is deeply in love with.…

This perspective is helpful when analyzing the problem of female sexuality in late adulthood while living in a youth obsessed American culture. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs can be utilized to examine the needs of females in late adulthood. There are five levels in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs: physiological needs, safety needs, belongingness and love needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization (Hutchison, 2013). The lower needs are listed first and the higher needs last. The needs to focus on for female sexuality in late adulthood are physiological, belongingness and love, esteem, and self-actualization. Humans have a biological need for sex; the way sexuality is expressed changes over the life course. In addition they have a physiological need to connect with one another; without meaningful connection they become lonely depressed. Esteem needs are divided into self-esteem and respect from others (Goble, 1970). Self-esteem needs are desire for confidence, independence, and freedom (Goble, 1970). Respect from others includes acceptance and appreciation (Goble, 1970). The final need in Maslow’s hierarchy is the self-actualized person; an individual with clarity about her life and has as Goble states “better understanding of self” (1970,…
