Several months ago,I read a news about an old lady fall down on the road, and a kind person go help her and sent her to hospital ,however, the old lady tell her children that her falling down is not a accident, the man who sent her to hospital knocked her.In this way,her children will ask the"ban man" pay for the medical charges and make compensation to them. This is so absurd that everyone can not endure. This kind of phenomenon we called it "Peng Ci" in Chinese, which means make a false charge against to others in order to get money.I have been think about why people will become like this ,and I get an answer is "Desire".The story about Haman is a living example, and Shun-amite is opposite obviously.Desire is a devil especially when you are never satisfied with those that you have own already. Learn to control ourselves, and don’t let us become an evil for our society really needs positive

    Mengzi vs. Xunzi

Xunzi is a philosopher that theorized “Human nature is evil: its goodness derives from conscious activity” (Xunzi). Xunzi’s theory implies that if one were to perform a good moral action, it was because they were scared of punishment or the loss that they might incur. He believes that they do not perform a good moral action because they primarily want to, but because they are scared of the consequences of ones actions. Mengzi is another philosopher that…

Flipping through the pages of your history book, you see millions of words, hundreds of pictures, and overall the context on the world around you. In almost everyone book you will see many of the same “important” people and figures occur. For example, George Washington was America’s first President, commander in chief of the Continental army, and was known as the Father of His Country. Sacajawea is known as a Shoshone Indian, who acted as a geographic guide, diplomat, and interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition, and was issued by the U.S. mint, a circulating dollar coin with her resemblance. The image of Uncle Sam, with his white hair and top hat, became famous during World War I, recruiting posters, and is still a well known figure in today’s society. People like George Washington, Sacajawea, and figures such as Uncle Sam and hundreds of others are known for very different things, but are all taught and reviewed all over America. However, I am not writing to summarize your knowledge on what you were already taught, but to show you what history books forgot to teach you. Why are there a limited amount of people chosen to be in history books, and hundreds of others are left a mystery to the world? Other than the people that people already know about, what about the other hundreds of people that also contributes to America’s history? I am writing to open the minds of people, and to show them how they should begin to acknowledge and perceive people, even if they aren’t in history books; in hope that more people would consider a new edition of different people to be taught in American history. I am starting the first steps to this movement with explaining the story of Elie Wiesel.…

The use of the classical tragedy concept of hamartia is largely demonstrated through the character of Antigone. In the play, Antigone 's brothers Polyneices and Eteocles begin a struggle for power against one another. Their father, Oedipus, was king and after his death it was agreed that his two sons would share the throne. Eteocles, the eldest son, did not let Polyneices take the throne when his turn arrived, thus creating a battle among the two. This resulted in the death of both brothers. Creon, Antigone 's uncle, then claimed the throne and decided to honor Etecoles and give him a proper burial fit for a king. Polyneices, on the other hand, was unworthy in Creon 's eyes of such an event and thought his body should lie on the fields for the birds and the dogs. Antigone was unable to fathom why Creon would think in such a manner. "Tis not my nature to join in hating, but in loving." (Antigone, p.12) To Antigone, her brothers were equal and both loved by her, she could not bare the thought that Polyneices corpse would be left there to decompose. She decided that she would oppose Creon and give her brother the burial she believed he deserved. At this point in the play it is evident that Antigone 's hamartia is revealed. She becomes disobedient of Creon which contributes to a great extent, her downfall. According to her beliefs, the divine law is greater than that of human law. Her flaw is not believing that the gods would want her to provide her brother with such an honor…

Zimbardo mentions seven slopes to evil but the most of common ones and difficult to recognize are mindlessly taking the first small step and diffusion of personal responsibility. Most people don’t see themselves as evil because they always makeup a story for their wrongdoings and they are not directly responsible for an issue. According to self-justification strategies, we will find a way or an excuse to convince ourselves that it’s not our faults or something nicer in positive situation to make us feel better. Zimbardo uses Milgram experiments as an example that evil start with a small 15 volt and increases at 15V intervals up to 450V. Because of self-justification, when increasing the volt of electricity, the participants won’t feel shame and guilt for their immoral behavior since the technician would take full responsibility for consequences. Recently, there are a lot of chemical and fake products as rice, eggs and beef in Asia market. At the beginning, store owners only purchase those products even knowing they are fake since they are inexpensive and if they don’t sell it, others do. Later, many of them end up producing and selling them to make…

One of the most tragic themes in night is Elie’s discovery of the way that atrocities and cruel treatment can make good people into brutes. This is apparent all throughout the book. There were numerous examples were once civil men killed each other over a small crumb of bread. Or were friends would betray each other at the hope that they would survive another day or get more rations. When a person is faced with death, they will do anything in their power to survive. Even if this means betraying there fellow man and becoming a beast. It is pure instinct to want to live and nothing is more power full then the will to survive. Unfortunately I do not believe Elie that evaded the fate of becoming a brute.…

    Skewed Moralities

In Mary Arguelles’ article “Money for Morality,” she presumes to state her thesis which details that in today’s society we have lost the need to be self-motivated and otherwise rely on other people to bargain with us with tokens of success thus sullying our dignified good deeds. This is expressed best in Mary Arguelles’ first example of a boy whom goes out of his way to return a large sum of cash to its rightful owner whilst not intending upon receiving a reward and yet however is pursued by another group of adults wishing to reimburse him for his troubles and finding that the reward is deserved of a large sum of money. Mary Arguelles’ goes on to explain that through actions like these, not only are our efforts being diminished but also we are being trained to expect rewards for deeds that supersede the plane of what is just.…

Hammurabi was known for one big reason. He made the first code of laws that brought the city states together. First, he started writing the laws in 1792 B.C.E and he finished them in 1750 B.C.E. There was a reason he wrote the laws. He claimed that the gods told him to write the laws so they would apply to everyone in the empire. One thing the gods told him to do was use the laws for, unifying his empire and to preserving order. Overall, hammurabi…
