Vhyjdf jbfsds idshfis isdihfi Jesus (probably born between 7 and 4 BC/BCE, killed between 30 and 34 AD/CE[note 1] in Jerusalem), also known as Jesus Christ or Jesus of Nazareth, is the central figure of the Christian religion. Most historians agree that he was a Jew from a place called Galilee, in the country that is today called Israel. They also agree that he was thought of as a teacher and a healer, and that he was baptized by John the Baptist. He was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of Pontius Pilate.[1][2][3][4][5]
Jesus is the founder of Christianity, religion that knows him as the Messiah of the Hebrew biblical tradition and as God made man.
The name Jesus came from the Aramaic name "Yeshua", from Hebrew Yah-shua, meaning "God is salvation (or deliverance)" in English, and was a popular name of the time.[6] Jesus is often called "Jesus Christ" or "Christ". The wordChrist comes from the Greek word christos and means "the one marked on the head with oil" or "the anointed one". In Jesus ' country, anointing was done to show that a person was chosen to be a king or a leader. Jesus is also called "Messiah", which comes from the Hebrew term Moshiach, and also means "the anointed one".[7]
Stories about the life of Jesus have been recorded by different writers. The best known are four books called the Gospels. They form the beginning of the New Testament, a part of the Bible. Gospel means "Good News". The Gospels are claimed to be written by followers of Jesus. They tell a little about his birth, and mostly about his adult life: his teachings, ministry, death, and a reported resurrection (return from death). There are four Gospels: the Gospel of Mark, the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel of Luke, and the Gospel of John.[8]
Several Jewish and Roman historians, such as Flavius Josephus, Tacitus,[note 2] Pliny the Younger, and Suetonius (all born after Jesus was crucified), mention Jesus in their writings. They usually only mention his execution or

As diverse and multicultural as today’s society may appear, the majority of individuals have still heard of the gospels that help make up the Holy Bible. Although there are many in the Bible, the four canonical gospels, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, are perhaps the most widely recognized. These four, although composed by different individuals, share many similarities in common such as how those who encounter Jesus after his resurrection behave. Even certain traits that characterize Jesus himself after resurrection are somewhat related.…

A matter that is discussed time and again in synoptic studies is the question of whether or not the gospels form a unique literary genre. Although in the past this was rather strongly suggested, scholars have been reconsidering this proposal during the last few years. Aune (1987: 46-76) concludes that the authors of the New Testament wanted to write according to the well-known genre of Greco-Roman biography (cf. Hengel 1983: 223-224). Shuler (1982) even argues for the identification of the gospels with a specific type of ancient biographical literature (encomium biography). This has tremendous implications for our understanding and exegesis of the gospels. The gospel writers wanted to describe a 'life of Jesus'. Of course, it is clear that we are not dealing with a biography in the modern sense of the word: this appears simply from the fact that the evangelists gave their primary attention to the last few years of Jesus' life. Among other things, the gospel writers had a missionary vision in mind with their writings, which explains their relatively extensive treatment of the history of Jesus' passion, death and resurrection. The authors themselves were completely devoted to the person about whom they were writing.…

John's gospel introduces Christ, not from His birth, but from "the beginning" as "the Word" (Logos) who, as Deity, is involved in every aspect of creation (1:1-3) and who later becomes flesh (1:14) in order that He might take away our sins as the spotless, sacrificial Lamb (John 1:29). John selects spiritual conversations that show that Jesus is the Messiah (4:26) and explain how one is saved by His vicarious death on the cross (3:14-16). Jesus repeatedly angers the Jewish leaders by correcting them (2:13-16); healing on the Sabbath, and claiming characteristics belonging to God (5:18; 8:56-59; 9:6,16; 10:33). Jesus prepares His disciples for His coming death and for their ministry after His resurrection and ascension (John 14-17). He then willingly dies on the cross in our place (10:15-18), paying our sin debt in full (19:30) so that whoever trusts in Him as his/her Savior from sin will be saved (John 3:14-16). He then rises from the dead, convincing even the most doubting of His disciples that He is God and Master (20:24-29).…

The first fact is that Jesus died by crucifixion. Josephus, a Jewish historian; Tacitus, a Roman historian; Lucian, a Greek satirist; Mara Bar-Serapion, a Syrian philosopher; and the Jewish Talmud attest to it historically. All of these sources are non-Christian and should be viewed with a higher degree of authenticity because they are unbiased (Habermas & Licona, 2004).…

Jesus Christ is the self-proclaimed Messiah, and his mission was to follow God's will, and spread the word about God's will. Jesus was the son of a carpenter, and his mother was not married to his father when he was conceived (although the conception was divine according to the bible) so she would have likely been the butt of jokes and scorned. He was born in a manger according to the bible, but research suggests that he was more likely born somewhere else. Early in life he ran away from his parents and was found in the temple talking to the Rabbi's who were amazed that anyone his age could have such wisdom. He grew up and made friends with people that lived on the fringes of society like Mary Magdeline, a prostitute (although this is not certain). He spread Gods word throughout the Middle East, but some of the things he said were considered anti-roman, and the romans thus saw him as a revolutionary (as did many Jews). He was tried and crucified. The person that gave the order to have him crucified asked the Jew whether they would like to have Jesus back alive or have another man, a murderer, back instead. Because the murderer was in Roman prison, he most likely killed a roman, and thus was a rather more successful revolutionary in the view of the crowd, so they took the murderer and let Jesus get crucified. His message of peace lives on today, but with many variations on his true messages.…

When speaking with Christians on the other hand, one finds a different light of Jesus. To them Jesus is one with God, a savior and one who was willing to die to save the people he loved. They view his crucifixion as something horrible and tragic, yet something beautiful, redeeming and necessary to save the human soul. Jesus is the greatest of the prophets as well as the greatest fulfiller of Old Testament prophecies.…
