Electrical Substation
ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION
A substation is a part of an electrical generation, transmission and distribution system. Substations transform voltage from high to low, or the reverse, or perform any of several other important functions. Electric power may flow through several substations between generating plant and consumer, and its voltage may change in several steps.
Substations may be owned and operated by a transmission or generation electrical utility, or may be owned by a large industrial or commercial customer. A substation may include transformers to change voltage levels between high transmission voltages and lower distribution voltages, or at the interconnection of two different transmission voltages. The word substation comes from the days before the distribution system became a grid. As central generation stations became larger, smaller generating plants were converted to distribution stations, receiving their energy supply from a larger plant instead of using their own generators. The first substations were connected to only one power station, where the generators were housed, and were subsidiaries of that power station.

TRANSFORMER-
A transformer is a device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors—the transformer's coils. A varying current in the first or primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core and thus a varying magnetic field through the secondary winding. This varying magnetic field induces a varying electromotive force (EMF), or "voltage", in the secondary winding. This effect is called mutual induction.
If a load is connected to the secondary, an electric current will flow in the secondary winding and electrical energy will be transferred from the primary circuit through the transformer to the load. In an ideal transformer, the induced voltage in the secondary winding (Vs) is in proportion to the primary

Toroidal transformers have low iron losses, and this makes the magnetic current in them to be significantly lower when compared to the convectional transformers. Due to this reason, the no-load power loss is heavily reduced, and this makes toroidal transformers very reliable and efficient.…

Power transformers are used to transfer electricity from one electrical circuit to another. It is an important component of the overall electricity market. The report states that the global electricity market is expected to reach $3,214 billion by 2015. Also, the global demand for electricity is expected to grow by 40% during 2012-2040, which is projected as the major driving factor for the global power transformers market.…

In these days, different devices required different voltages, so that there were different specialised generator and separate lines. For example, street lights and trams required total different system. Generator had to be relatively close to the loads ( a mile or less for low voltage devices) because transmission was inefficient for low voltage and high current…

Solar plants are often built in remote areas, with deserts being the ideal location based on sunlight and potential for mass energy production. That being said, electricity produced in such a region requires long distance Transport. By means of transformers, energy loss over this vast distance can be minimized. It is important to maximize voltage, but within reason as to not overwork wires or mediating energy stations, to avoid energy losses.…

whenever a conductor moves relative to magnetic field, voltage is induced in the conductor. Particularly, if a coil is spinning in a magnetic field, then the two sides of the coil move in opposite directions, and the voltages induced in each side add. Numerically the instantaneous value of the resulting voltage (called electromotive force, emf) is equal to the minus of the rate of change of magnetic flux Φ times the number of turns in the coil: V=−N•∆Φ/Δt. This relationship has been found experimentally and is referred to as Faraday's law. The…
