Egg Drop Project

For this project, I made a capsule for an egg that is to be dropped from about twenty feet. This capsule that I made was not what I was thinking at first but when I started to build it, I saw that this capsule would hold better than the one that I was thinking which was a triangular capsule with the egg in the middle but I saw later one that the egg would break if it hit one of the flat sides. The capsule is a cube that is made out of the tongue depressors and I used most of the yarn for the big cage and I used the Elmer’s glue to glue the tongue depressors together. I used pieces of the paper clips to hold the popsicle sticks together with the tongue depressors and some more glue. I then made the center, which was made by two popsicle sticks that I had which formed into a triangle and I made a little railing around it with the paper clips. I then put the cotton puffs inside the triangle that was formed with the two popsicle sticks and it is used to cushion the egg while it’s falling so when it hits the floor, then it wouldn’t receive all the damage if the cage were to break and the small egg holder were to fall out of the capsule or if it were to hit the floor straight. I used the pipe cleaners to hole the egg inside the egg holder so that it doesn’t fall out of it and break. I used some glue to glue the cotton puffs to the railing that was made for the egg holder and to the two popsicle sticks. When I first tried to drop this capsule without the egg to see if the capsule would survive and how it would fall, it landed and turned to one of its sides, but the structure itself didn’t break. When I saw that the structure didn’t break, I rechecked the joints in the structure to see if they were still together. Once I checked the structure, I put an egg and I went to drop it. I dropped it in grass and when it fell, the egg broke completely and it turned to its side. Once I saw that the egg broke

I believe the innkeeper learned he shouldn’t have tried to make a profit off the farmer over ten scrambled eggs that were incapable to hatch. He also attempted to make the farmer try to pay four thousand kroner because it took the farmer four years to come back and pay for the eggs. In paragraph three the innkeeper says “ If those ten eggs would have hatched I would have had ten chicks”. There was nothing the farmer could do which made the innkeeper think he would get the four thousand.…

The goal of the lab was to make a contraption that if an egg was dropped from about 18 ft it wouldn’t break or even crack. We tried to absorb the force of the egg so that it wouldn’t hot the ground with too much energy. The contraption had a net made of yarn to catch the egg and not have it bounce too much; it was slanted slightly so the egg could roll down into a soft pile of cotton that lined the bottom of the box.…

The objective of this project was to create a structure that will protect a raw egg and prevent it from breaking when being dropped from a minimum height of two meters. A decent hypothesis or prediction one could develop before any experimental trials would be as follows. The structure that provides the longest duration of impact between the falling egg the ground will provide the desired results of an undamaged egg. The duration of time in which the ground applies a force to the egg carrying structure is referred to as impulse. The longer the span of impact time, the more mild the force acting upon the egg.…

The objective of our project was to design and build a contraption that would secure an egg from breaking upon impact from a second story window, and the contraption wieghing as least as possible while falling the fastest. We wanted to design something that would provide a lot of cushioning directly to the egg, and also provide extra cushioning to weaken the impact. After testing and submitting a design of just bubble wrap around the egg we found out that it will not be allowed. Due to this we had to make changes in order to gain originality pionts and add to the creativity. After pondering for a few minutes we came up with the idea of putting the egg in a container of some material with cushioning, and then wrap the container in bubble wrap. This suttle change was enough to gain originality points and led us to the building stage.…

Our team was very effective because we had good listeners, people within the group would listen to small ideas and elaborate on it as a group, for example Fauzyia said we should try finish before the allocated time so we get enough time to prepare the egg for the challenge, we did do that and Khaver added to it by saying we should dropped it from estimated 3 feet to know whether the egg will deviate in the air and land on the right side. This made our group more successful as it helped us in the challenge because we had a rough idea about how the egg will land on the ground. This enabled us to prepare the egg better and make the landing side of the egg much stronger in order to prevent the egg from cracking. As a result of good listeners we were successful because the egg failed to crack when it hit the ground from 8 feet.…

In order to complete this experiment, one of the most important things you need to know how to do is how to take the outer “shell” layer off of the egg. The egg shells contain an element known as calcium carbonate. This element can be turned into carbon dioxide when combined with acetic acid. You can find acetic acid in vinegar. {Guenther, Leanne. “Soft Shelled Eggs.” Kidzone Science, Kidzone Science, 1998, www.kidzone.ws/science/egg.htm.}…
