Effective Teamwork
- Research
Effective work teams are built to be successful. The first step is for the leader to be clear about team objectives. The team leader should also practice what they preach. If the team leader expects high-quality productive work then they should demonstrate that as well. The team leader needs to be reliable and set the stage for the rest of the team. When team members see that their leader is reliable, they will follow suit. Anticipating problems and other opportunities is important so that the team can think realistically. Two very important factors that increase a teams chance of being effective and efficient are an orientation process for the team as well as a clear agreeable team charter. Team members need to be aware of all of the objectives and steps to reaching them. After the objectives, the team members need to be considered. Depending on the objectives, the team members should reflect people who can contribute to the topic. It is important to make sure that all team members understand the project and feel comfortable enough to ask questions. Just because the team comprehends the project or task does not mean they agree with it. The purpose of assembling a team is to group together individuals that have specific skills in order to complete a specific project (Team Effectiveness Assessment, 2013). It is important that all of the team members are committed to one common goal- the objective of the project. Communication is vital with teams and a communication plan needs to be decided on. It is important for leaders as well as other team members to give one another constructive feedback on their work.
An effective team will:
Retain valuable organizational knowledge that comes with the continuity of staff and sharing of information
Enhance the power and feeling of satisfaction of individuals working on the team
Establish trust relationships that lead to better sharing of knowledge and understanding
Achieve objectives because individuals

I'm jet lagged and tired. My alarm goes off, a screeching "beep, beep, beep!" I get out of bed, turn the alarm off, and begin my routine - coffee, shower, flight suit, bag drag from the lobby to the crew bus. Once all bags are loaded onto the airplane, we head over to base operations for our crew brief. Crew brief is complete and its back to the aircraft, so I can refuel, inspect, and then take off. This is my life as a C-17A Flying Crew Chief (FCC) stationed at Travis AFB CA. You're a jack of all trades when you're an FCC. The C-17A is a large military transport aircraft. It performs strategic airlift missions, and transports troops and cargo throughout the world. When on these types of missions, I'm usually gone from one to two weeks depending on whats going on in the world. There was a mission that took us from California to South Carolina to pick up Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. We crew rested there before we started our…

The group originally chose the project on respect towards older people aimed at 15-19 year olds however, following a group discussion decided to change the project to recognising stress in carers. This was because the group felt that the carers topic was currently highlighted in the media and there was a large volume of literature available from a variety of sources. The group also felt that the respect towards elders project was quite a broad topic which could be interpreted in many different ways which may have been challenging to convey on a poster. The group preferred a poster over a leaflet as they felt it could reach a wider audience when placed anywhere rather than someone having to physically collect a leaflet. The group also thought a poster would be more eye catching, easier to read and concise for stressed busy carers who wouldn’t want to read large volumes of text. 152 words…

In my opinion, the most important factor that aids a team to work effectively is to have an established goal that each member works toward. When each individual is aware of the direction of team, they can consistently contribute their ideas and insights to achieve that goal. Therefore, my primary objective in this course is to actively seek the best ways to achieve the goal at hand. Once a certain goal has been established, I need to remind myself and my team members of that same goal in an on-going basis; so that the team won’t diverge from the direction it must be headed. By continually mentioning the goal that was agreed-upon, it keeps the team moving together which is vital to success. Each member must know how far the team has developed their steps to achieving the goal; therefore it would be a real disadvantage when one member is behind. Also, the most fundamental attribute that must go with teamwork collaboration is team cohesiveness and a high level of commitment. Without working together and committing to one another, a team will most likely fail. Each member must trust one another and agree that each individual will give them the same level of dedication as one another. My goal is to give my team members all that I can offer and hopefully, learn as much as I can from them to enhance the results. In order to reach this goal, I have to actively listen to my team members and see what they have to offer. Teamwork is about giving what you have and learning what you…
