Introduction
In today 's world, studies are the biggest competition in the world.
Education is not what it is supposed to be.
In this country, millions of students are victim of an unrealistic, pointless, mindless rat race
Political interference in education and educational institutions.
Focus on skill based education
Education system is more of testing knowledge than of teaching skill.
Helps student enjoy and understand education better than knowledge based
Reward creativity, original thinking, research and innovation.
Our education system rarely rewards what deserves highest academic accolades.
Memorizing is no learning.
Students must be encouraged to think instead of making them follow the age old syllabus. Must in education system:
Get smarter people to teach.
Implement massive technology infrastructure for education.

Re-define the purpose of the education system:
Our education system is still a colonial education system geared towards generating babu’s and pen-pushers under the newly acquired skin of modernity.
The goal of our new education system.
REINVENTING THE SAME WHEEL: Education must make the student THINK.
The system is there just to keep students occupied; now-a-days we rarely learn new skills.
The education system provides qualifications but not the experiences.
Personalize education – one size does not fit all.
Indian education system is built on the presumption that if something is good for one kid, it is good for all kids.
Decentralize education.
Example- the market for learning dancing.

Bribes and donation are taken for getting admission in college. My opinion:
The primary purpose of a school is to guide the child’s discovery of herself and her world and to identify and mature the child’s talents. Just as each seed contains the future tree, each child is born with infinite potential. In the article he suggests that many teachers and parents try to be potters instead of Gardner 's in molding their children’s future.” Imagine a school in which sees children as seeds to be nurtured-here the teacher is a Gardner who tries to bring out the potential already present in the child. This is very different from the current view which sees the child as clay to be molded where the teachers and parents are potters deciding what shape the clay should take. There is an old Chinese saying,” Give a seed to a potter and you shall have a bonsai." In a nutshell, as a teacher and parent, be a Gardner, not a potter..

    There is a global institution that is labeling millions of people as failures just because they failed to memorize few facts and figures. This institution is our so called “education system”. The very aim of education is now limited to a classroom with a blackboard packed with forty to fifty students with one elderly person dictating them what they should learn.     Let us first consider what the education is…. Education is the wealth of knowledge acquired by an individual after studying particular subject matters or experiencing life lessons that provide an understanding of something. There are many modes of testing one’s specific knowledge in a particular subject matter in the field of education. Exams, viva tests, interviews, and online tests are some of them. In prevailing education system in Sri Lanka, exam based education is the most commonly used system. Exam based education system is a system which tests knowledge of the students using different types of exams. According to this system students are suppose to sum up the gathered knowledge at this so called examinations. It’s pretty obvious they have to buy-heart most of the things that they learnt in order to pass those examinations. In this system there’s a particular syllabus, and the students are framed in that limited area of a particular subject. They really do not try to go out of it and they are just like frogs in the well because of their exam mentality. They memorize things just as parrots. The general education system is focused only on examinations rather than training students for the future and really testing their knowledge. Because of this, students are forced to take tests that show only their retention powers, not their actual capacity or knowledge. So engineers today cannot do actual work in technology and doctors do not go to people who need their services. Today, students are completely professionally-oriented and they take examinations for the same rather than to gain knowledge, or do research in the subject. Even in the field of medicine, no one is motivated to do research because everything is so examination.…

    I’ve never really been a fan of the Western Educational systems. Students there are bestowed with way too much unconditional liberty. They’re treated like empyreal emperors at a time when they should be ordered to shut their PlayStations and take a good look at their school books. There’s too much rationalism in there and very little humanism, which in a sense explains the reason for the rapid moral degradation among a significant number of students in the West. Look at the list of school related criminal attacks worldwide and you’d observe the US perched handsomely at the top. We read almost every week about teen shootouts, teen pregnancies and yet do not wish to speak about them in the open. ‘It’s taboo’. We, Indian students here, atleast under the fear of failure, the fear of humiliation, the fear of corporal punishment are compelled on to the right track as far as our pursuit of educational excellence is concerned.
